🎉 12 YEARS OF CONNECTION, COMMUNITY & RECOVERY! 🎉

What a day to remember! The Colquitt County Peer Support, Wellness and Respite Center celebrated its 12th Anniversary, and it was truly a success! 💚

We welcomed close to 60 peers, community members, and local organizations for a day filled with delicious local BBQ, homemade sides prepared by center staff, 90s music, laughter, meaningful connections, and memories shared.

A HUGE shoutout to our dedicated Peer Respite staff for all the hard work, planning, preparation, and heart they put into making this celebration special. So much happens behind the scenes, and their efforts helped make this day one to remember! 👏

Beyond the celebration, this anniversary reminds us just how vital peer respite centers are to our mental health recovery community. The Moultrie center is a unique and invaluable resource in South Georgia, providing connection, support, and a safe space for individuals to focus on their wellness and recovery.

There was nostalgia in the air, but also a vision for the future — one built on hope, lived experience, and a growing community that continues to show up for one another.

Twelve years of lives touched, relationships built, hope restored, and community strengthened. 💚

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this milestone possible. Here’s to celebrating our history while continuing to build a brighter future for peer support and mental health recovery!

Today is Global Peer Support Celebration Day! 🌎💚

Peer support is grounded in lived experience, mutuality, choice, hope, and the belief that people are the experts on their own lives. That difference matters—and it is worth protecting as peer support continues to grow.

At Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, we see the power of peers supporting peers every day. Today, we celebrate our peer workforce and the communities that remind us recovery is possible and every voice matters.

Peer support is worth celebrating. And worth protecting.

Today, Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network attended the Statewide Opioid Task Force Meeting held at Georgia State University College of Law.

Officiated by Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, the meeting brought together a room full of passionate advocates, community leaders, Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs), law enforcement, and government officials, all committed to addressing the opioid crisis and strengthening recovery efforts across Georgia.

We had the opportunity to hear from Commissioner Tanner, along with several other individuals who shared valuable insights into the work being done throughout our state.

A special highlight of the day was seeing GMHCN recognized among the organizations named in the proclamation, acknowledging the collective efforts of those working to support recovery, advocacy, and stronger communities.

Beyond the presentations and important conversations, it was wonderful to connect with so many individuals and organizations who share a commitment to making a difference.

Collaboration creates opportunities. Connection strengthens communities. And together, we continue moving recovery forward.

We are grateful to have a seat at the table and to continue advocating for the importance of lived experience, peer support, and recovery across Georgia!

The Colquitt County Peer Support, Wellness and Respite Center in Moultrie is celebrating 12 years of connection, community, and mental health recovery with a Back to the ’90s Anniversary Celebration!

The Moultrie center is one of 5 Peer Respite Centers that are a project of the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, and just like their anniversary theme, GMHCN has been Georgia’s home for peer support since 1990.

For more than three decades, peer support has played an important role in mental health recovery across Georgia.

Today, Peer Support, Wellness and Respite Centers throughout the state continue that work by creating spaces where people can connect with others who understand, share lived experience, find support, and know they aren’t alone.

We’re proud to be part of that history and even prouder to continue building the future of peer support and mental health recovery in our community. ❤️

Great things are happening at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital in Columbus, Georgia!

Last week, Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network’s Ginger Howze and Al DePratt teamed up to co-facilitate a WRAP® (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) training, bringing together professionals committed to supporting recovery and empowering individuals through wellness and self-advocacy.

Participants included therapists, a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), and a workforce professional who helps connect individuals in recovery with meaningful employment opportunities.

💚 Recovery is about more than overcoming challenges. It’s about building hope, creating opportunities, and empowering individuals to take ownership of their wellness journey.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share the power of WRAP® and strengthen partnerships that continue to move recovery forward across Georgia!
