Nine years ago, the Almeida family became my family. Not by blood, but through love, loyalty, and the kind of connection that makes family so much more than a shared last name.
Daniella began as my student, became my teaching assistant, and eventually my bonus daughter. Her parents, Penny and Chico, welcomed me into their family, and they've stood beside me through some of the most difficult moments of my life, including three surgeries.
Now, it's my turn to show up for them.
In 2023, Chico lost his left leg below the knee, leaving Penny and Daniella as the family's primary financial providers.
This summer, while working in Alaska, Penny became seriously ill. After returning to Tucson and undergoing multiple procedures, she received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 metastatic stomach cancer.
At just 32 years old, Daniella is now helping care for both parents while trying to keep their household financially afloat.
I'm asking for your help to ease their financial burden so Daniella can focus less on paying bills and more on spending precious time with her parents.
Donations will help with housing, utilities, groceries, transportation, and medical-related expenses.
Every contribution matters. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing.
Family isn't always the people we're born into. Sometimes it's the people who show up when we need them most.
The Almeida family has shown up for me for nine years.
Please help me return that love. ❤️
With heartfelt gratitude,
Morgyn (Mo) Taith
