WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: Flip that negative voice into your own pep squad

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FzmuTGqBT/

The voice in your head matters.

Some people speak to themselves in ways they would never speak to another human being - calling themselves stupid, worthless, lazy, a failure, not good enough.

After a while, negative self-talk stops feeling like a thought and starts feeling like the truth.

It affects confidence, relationships, mental health, motivation and the ability to cope with everyday life.

Many adults and teenagers are silently fighting this battle every single day while smiling on the outside.

Be kinder to yourself. Challenge the inner critic. And share this because someone you know may need this reminder more than you realise.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: Why does your child come home tired and release the emotions at home? They are bottling up so much at school and home is their safe space to let it out.

https://www.facebook.com/share/1JuCBh21x1/

Some children hold it together all day at school… then completely fall apart at home.

The after-school meltdowns, tears, anger, silence, defiance, or exhaustion are often not about “bad behaviour”. They can be the release of hours spent masking emotions, coping with sensory overload, trying to fit in, managing anxiety, and pushing themselves beyond their limits.

Many children are praised at school for being “fine” while quietly drowning underneath the surface. Then they come home to the one place where they finally feel safe enough to let it all out.

More adults need to understand this. One small shift in understanding can completely change how we respond to children who are struggling.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: Stimming is a natural way people calm themselves. If you have concerns about the way your child or family member stims please feel free to make an appointment with us and we can discuss it with you.

https://www.facebook.com/share/18hG1ifDkP/

Stimming is a natural way many people regulate emotions, manage stress, cope with sensory overload, or feel calm and safe. It can look different for every person - rocking, pacing, hand movements, repeating sounds or words, humming, or focusing on certain textures, sounds, or lights.

Stimming is not something that automatically needs to be stopped or corrected. When it is safe, understanding and acceptance can help a person feel more regulated, supported, and emotionally balanced.

Supporting neurodivergent people means looking at what the behaviour is communicating and what need it is meeting. Compassion and understanding matter more than forcing someone to appear “normal”. 💛

What are some stimming behaviours people often misunderstand?
