I spent decades with a name that needed explaining. In a world of Jennifers, I was Jenifer. One 'n.' It was a 1970s spelling quirk that meant constant corrections... And then I got married and with it, came more corrections. I was Meller, not Miller.

Last year, eight years after my divorce, I got remarried and something shifted. I felt the pull toward belonging – toward being fully part of my chosen family, not just in spirit but in name, too. I realized I didn't want a split identity anymore.

I wanted integrity. Martha Beck defines it as this: "who you are on the inside is who you are on the outside."

So, I'm changing my name to Brown. New website (jenbrown.com), new LLC, new logo.

The paperwork is done. And it feels clean. Right.

Names carry meaning. They hold stories. They mark chapters. And sometimes, changing yours is part of becoming who you already are.

I'd love to keep in touch, and my substack is a great place for that. Subscribe at jenbrownllc.substack.com

Sometimes insight alone doesn’t create change. It’s when the body is included that things start to shift in a more real, lasting way. I put together a few simple mind and body exercises that can help you move from just understanding yourself to actually feeling, processing, and integrating what’s there. They’re gentle, practical, and something you can return to whenever you need.

This is a short reflection on experiential modalities and why they matter. When understanding something intellectually isn’t enough to create change, these approaches offer a way to work directly with lived experience experiential approaches offer another way in. This is a brief look at what those modalities are and why they can be so impactful.

What if kindness isn’t something “extra,” but the very thing that makes courage possible? 💛
I just published a new piece exploring why kindness — toward ourselves and from others — is often the doorway to the healing we’re longing for.
If you’ve ever tried to face something hard and realized you needed gentleness more than grit, this one’s for you.
Would love to hear your reflections after you read it. 💬👇
