Dear Friends,

It is with deep sadness that we write to inform you of the passing of our beloved co-founder, Evan Kligman, who passed away on July 22, 2026.

As many of you know, Evan had relocated to Canada in recent years. We were especially thrilled to have him visit us just this past November, when he toured the clinic and reconnected with so many of us. It was a wonderful reminder of his enduring connection to Amistad y Salud and his pride in the work we continue to carry forward.

Evan's life was one of profound service. He was also deeply committed to healthcare for the poor, undocumented, and uninsured—a commitment that led him to co-found Amistad y Salud and Clínica Amistad.

Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the work we do every day. Amistad y Salud and Clínica Amistad exist because of his vision, and his legacy will continue through all of us—in every patient we welcome, every barrier we break down, and every act of kindness we extend.

We are grateful for the time we had with him and for the lasting impact he made on this clinic and community. May we continue his work with the same compassion, kindness and dedication he brought to all he did.

Since 2003, we've offered quality healthcare at no cost to our patients — and we've never done it alone. From retired physicians to ER docs coming straight off shifts, they step up because they know the need is real. And volunteers like U of A senior Alexa are right there beside them, gaining experience while giving back to our community.

To be named a finalist is a true honor, and it belongs to every volunteer, donor, and staff member who has built this organization with integrity and heart.
