Throwback Thursday + National Root Beer Float Day! 🥤🍦

We’re taking a sweet trip down memory lane to one of our Children & Youth Saturday events, where students fired up the grill for a rodeo-themed cookout and topped it all off by making their own root beer floats!

This wasn’t just a tasty treat—it was a chance to practice important nonvisual skills like safely pouring ingredients, measuring by touch, and deciding the ultimate question: What’s the perfect root beer-to-ice cream ratio? (Everyone seemed to have their own favorite!)

Building confidence, independence, and a few delicious memories along the way—that’s a recipe for success.

How do you make your perfect root beer float? More root beer or more ice cream? Let us know in the comments! 🤠🍔🥤

When students are in the beginning of their program and just learning braille and want to film a braille word of the week we find that to be a LARGE feat. It is a HUGE accomplishment. We hope you give a GIANT hand to this student and take a guess at their word. Pictured: student sitting in chair with a hat a shades on with a cane leaning against her she has a bell in her hand. 🎉 Triumph Tuesday! 🎉

Congratulations to Richard on completing his TV stand in Home Maintenance class! 🛠️

From measuring and assembling to making sure every piece fit together just right, Richard demonstrated patience, problem-solving, and attention to detail throughout the project. Building a piece of furniture from start to finish is no small accomplishment, and we’re proud of the skills and confidence he gained along the way.

Please join us in celebrating Richard and this well-earned achievement! 👏

Our abc “ability builds confidence” class tomorrow, August 4th from 10am to noon is phrased as a question, “better health and wellness goals?” So the real question is do you have any? Come to the class to learn about setting better goals, how blind people can stay fit and involved, and what health programs saavi services for the blind has available. Hope to see you there.

🎿 Fun Friday! 🎿

Who says you have to wait four years for the Winter Olympics? 😄 At one of our Saturday Children & Youth events, our future champions put their skills to the test in SAAVI’s own version of cross-country skiing—the wrapping paper pull challenge! Using only their feet, they raced to pull the end of the wrapping paper on the floor closer to them in a competition full of laughter, determination, and plenty of fun.

This slow-motion replay captures all the excitement (and a few giggles)! 😂

We hope your weekend is filled with just as much laughter, friendly competition, and unforgettable moments. Happy Fun Friday from all of us at SAAVI Services for the Blind! 💙

Throwback Thursday meets National Intern Day!
Some of Saavi Services for the Blind’s most dedicated employees first walked through our doors as interns. Their internships gave them the opportunity to build skills, gain hands-on experience, and discover a passion for empowering people who are blind.
Today, we’re looking back and celebrating the incredible journey from intern to valued team member. Their growth is a reminder that investing in tomorrow’s professionals creates a stronger future for our community.
to all of our past and present interns thank you for your hard work, fresh ideas, and commitment. We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next!

Having just come from tech class and having the start of his college classes and needing to have his equipment on his mind the student decided this should be the braille word of the week. What’s your guess? Pictured: student sitting at a table in front of home are phone and controllers with a nearby screen with a video game being played. Next the student is sitting in a couch facing the camera delivering his word of the week.

🎉 Triumph Tuesday! 🍽️

Today we’re celebrating student Sam and the successful completion of his All Saavi final meal for his Home Management class!

Sam served up a menu that was every carb lover’s dream, proving that comfort food can be both delicious and confidence-building. From planning and preparing the meal to serving it with pride, he demonstrated the organization, cooking, and independent living skills he’s worked so hard to develop.

Congratulations, Sam, on reaching this incredible milestone! We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next. Join us in congratulating him on a job well done! 👏💙
