Our last Tuesday our meeting was about Choosing to Love: Finding Freedom in Recovery ❤️✨
Have you ever tried your absolute best to make amends, only to be met with a closed door? It’s incredibly painful when people refuse to reconcile, and it can easily leave us feeling stuck, resentful, or like a victim all over again.
But here is the powerful truth: Our recovery is not decided by the responses of others; it is in God’s hands alone.
When we can't control how someone else feels or reacts, we can choose how we respond. Based on Luke 6:27-36, here are the steps we can take to gain our power back and find true freedom:
1️⃣ Do Your Part, Then Let Go
We are called to make direct amends wherever possible (unless it would cause harm). Once you have done your absolute best to right a wrong, your responsibility in that dynamic is over. You cannot force someone to accept your apology.
2️⃣ Shift Your Actions (Even When Feelings Don't Match)
Jesus gives us a radical roadmap in Luke 6: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who hurt you.
The Secret: You don't have to "feel" like loving them first. Choose to act in a loving way anyway. As we choose to do good, our feelings will eventually follow with time.
3️⃣ Break Free from Emotional Captivity
When we let other people's bad attitudes or refusal to forgive dictate our happiness, we are letting them control us. By choosing to love and do good anyway, we break free from being held captive by their feelings—or even our own negative emotions.
Refusing to let someone else's disposition control you is where real freedom is found. Let’s choose to act in love today, trust the process, and leave the results in God's hands. 🙏✨ join us every Tuesday at 7pm at North Swan Baptist Church
