Mohs surgery result: treating basal cell carcinoma with precise margin control and carefully planned repair.

This patient was treated by Dr. Christopher Weyer, Board-Certified Dermatologist and Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon, for an infiltrated basal cell carcinoma on the left superior nasolabial fold.

This tumor had extensive spread within the skin leaving a larger defect than anticipated.

Because of the location and size of the surgical area, reconstruction was planned for the entire left upper lip subunit using a laterally based advancement flap. This technique moves nearby tissue into place to help restore the area while supporting long-term function, contour, and overall appearance.

Mohs surgery allows the surgeon to carefully track and remove remaining cancer cells while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible, which is especially important in facial areas with delicate anatomy.
