Pima County measles update:
Pima County is investigating a confirmed measles case in an international visitor who recently traveled through southern Arizona. The overall risk to the public remains low, but one Tucson exposure location has been identified:
Banner – UMC Emergency Department
September 24 | 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
Monitor for symptoms through October 15.
Watch for fever, cough, runny nose, red/watery eyes and a rash that typically starts on the face and spreads downward.
If you may have been exposed and develop symptoms, stay home and call your healthcare provider before seeking in-person care.
The MMR vaccine remains the best protection against measles. Two doses are about 97% effective.
Stay informed, check your family’s vaccine records, and reach out to your pediatrician if you’re unsure whether your child is protected.
