If you’ve ever looked at a therapist’s bio and thought
“those letters mean nothing to me”

this one’s for you.

A quick breakdown of some common therapy approaches so you know what people are actually talking about.

Save it for later if you’re therapist shopping.

Did you know that the future your brain can see is actually a reflection of your nervous system state?
There’s a psychological process called prospection, and it means your ability to imagine what’s possible is directly tied to how safe your body feels right now.
So if the future has been looking pretty bleak lately, your nervous system is just doing its job in an overwhelming world.
The good news is this is something you can actually do something about.
Protect your nervous system right now. Not as a luxury. As an act of resistance.
Save this and share it with someone who needs to hear it. ✌️

You’re still here feeling it all and showing up for all the things while holding onto your humanity and sanity and hope all at once and you’re a freakin bad ass for it. I see you and I love you.

Your nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Staying morally awake right now, and our humanity genuinely depends on it, actually requires you to step away from the feed.

Rest is not disengagement. It’s how you come back with a clear mind and an open heart. Look up Albert Bandura’s work to get the science behind it.

This moment is hitting people very differently.

Some folks are early in the process.
Some just had the story crack.
Some are in their “actually f**k this” era.
Some have landed somewhere more nuanced.

It helps to remember we’re all on a journey when someone else’s reaction isn’t immediately validating yours.

Sharing this as an offering in case it helps when your reactions don’t land the way you hoped.
I’ve needed that reminder more than once.

Political systems don’t only operate through laws and force.
They operate through nervous systems.

History and psychology both show how fear, confusion, and exhaustion reduce access to clarity and choice. Regulation restores those capacities.

Caring for your nervous system is a critic part of how we remain capable of resistance.

“Follow your gut”is good advice… with a bit of nuance.
Your nervous system is wired to choose what’s familiar, not always what’s aligned.
Regulate first. Then listen. That’s where your real truth is.

“Following your gut” is age old advice and it’s good advice with a caveat.

Your nervous system is wired to choose what’s familiar, not always what’s aligned.

Regulate first. Then listen. That’s where your real truth is.

Interrupting a thought cycle can sometimes be quite simple. We repeat ourselves until we feel heard, even to our own selves so try this- hear yourself and respond like you might to someone else.

“That makes sense.” “You cared.” “You didn’t feel represented.”

You don’t have to keep the conversation going for it to end, try acknowledging you heard yourself and see if the rumination lifts.

Try this goal setting method if you’re not into rigidity but want to lock in this year in a holistic more dynamic way.

Meet the Harada method. Its vision boarding meets goal setting which I love because it offers a different way to go get to growth that doesn’t feel so all or nothing.
