Mr. Arthur Edward Chandler, 82 passed from this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at his residence. He was born on November 23, 1943, in Chattanooga, TN to the late Alexander Chandler Sr. and Alzata Baugh Page. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Chandler; daughter, Janet Shannon; sister, Barbara Page; and brothers, Alexander Chandler Jr., Walter Page, Clevon Page, and Leonard Page
Affectionately known as Chandler to family and friends, he was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and graduated from Howard High School. After high school, Chandler proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he attended Lane College, where he earned two bachelorβs degrees. He also attended Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Shelbyville where he received a certificate in welding. For many years, Chandler did masonry and welding work and crafted expert skills, always playing close attention to detail.
Chandler loved God and his family. He was a humble servant who was always willing to lend a helping hand and never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes. Those who knew him will always remember his familiar thumbs-up sign, letting everyone know that everything was okay.
Chandler met the love of his life, the late Linda Starks Chandler, and they were united in Holy Matrimony on April 21, 1973. Together, they made their home in Tullahoma. Chandler accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of New Creation Church under the leadership of Pastor Don Burkhalter. He loved serving God and others and could often be found helping and working around the church.
Chandler leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, Jeffrey Shannon of Chicago, IL, Vincent (Faith) Starks of Indianapolis, IN and Allen T (Tameka) Starks of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Jalen and Julian Shannon, LaShaundra, LaShay and Gary King Jr, Tashawn Starks, A***n Prather, Vashinee Starks, Allen T. Starks, Jr., Micah Starks and Dominique Lawrence;14 great grandchildren; bonus brother, Edward Baugh; bonus sister, Faustina Smith both of Chattanooga, TN; special nieces, Makeba Petty and Tyleisha Baugh; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation, Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Revival Center Family Church with the Homegoing Celebration following at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Dr. Cedric Seay, Officiating and Pastor Don Burkhalter, as Eulogist. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
