Does your blood type determine your best diet?
🩸 Your blood type does not determine which foods you should eat.
⚠️ The Myth: Each blood type (O, A, B, or AB) has an ideal diet, and eating foods that don’t match your blood type can negatively affect your health.
🔬 The Science: Researchers reviewed the scientific evidence behind blood-type diets and found no studies showing that eating according to your blood type improves your health or prevents disease.
Other studies have found that some of the eating patterns recommended by blood-type diets may be associated with health benefits. Here’s the catch: those benefits had nothing to do with a person’s blood type! People experienced similar benefits regardless of whether their blood type matched the recommended diet.
✅ The Reality: Eating more vegetables, choosing nutritious foods, and limiting highly processed foods can benefit your health, but you don’t need to know your blood type to make those choices. There is no credible evidence that eating foods that don’t match your blood type is harmful.
A healthy diet is determined by nutritional science, not your blood type.
