What to Expect When You Work With Sarah
You don’t need to walk into counseling knowing exactly what’s wrong—or even knowing what you want to change.
Sarah wants counseling to be a place where you can simply start with your story.
Together, you might explore experiences from your past, notice the beliefs or patterns you’ve carried forward, or get curious about why certain parts of life feel the way they do now.
Through it all, Sarah brings a simple belief to the counseling room: you are more than the difficult things that have happened to you.
No performing. No judgment. No expectation that you already have the answers. Just space to be heard, make meaning of your experiences, and begin imagining what the next chapter could look like. 📖💛

You don’t need to organize your thoughts before therapy. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. And you definitely don’t need to apologize for crying. We can start wherever you are. 🎃

What to Expect When You Work With Amanda
Therapy doesn’t have to be another place where you feel like you’re being told what you should be doing.
Amanda’s goal is to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can get curious about your experiences, reconnect with what matters to you, and begin trusting yourself again.
That might mean navigating body image concerns or disordered eating. It might mean unpacking shame. Or it might mean figuring out what you actually value after spending a long time listening to everyone else’s expectations.
You don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin. 💛

Work With Sarah: What if the story you’ve been carrying about yourself isn’t the whole story? 📖

That question is at the heart of Sarah’s interest in Narrative Therapy.
With a background in creative writing and literature, Sarah has always been fascinated by stories—especially the ones we tell ourselves about who we are and what our experiences mean.

In counseling, she helps clients explore those narratives with curiosity rather than judgment, recognize that they are more than the difficult things they’ve experienced, and make room for new possibilities. Sarah is especially interested in working with family dysfunction, difficult childhood experiences, grief and loss. And for clients who would like faith to be part of the process, she can thoughtfully integrate Christian faith into counseling as well.

Your past is part of your story. It doesn’t have to write every chapter that comes next. 💛

Your brain can be very convincing. But having a thought doesn’t make it a prediction, a fact, or a reflection of who you are. Sometimes the most helpful response is simply: “I notice I’m having that thought.” 👻

Work With Amanda: What matters to you in a therapy space?
For Amanda, inclusive care means recognizing that our experiences don’t happen in a vacuum. Culture, identity, trauma, weight stigma, and the messages we receive about our bodies can all shape the way we see ourselves.

Amanda brings a justice-oriented, Health at Every Size-aligned, LGBTQIA+ friendly approach to her work. She especially loves helping people break free from shame and begin making peace with food and their bodies—not some future version of their bodies, but the bodies they live in right now.

If that sounds like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, Amanda is currently accepting new clients at Whole Hive. 🐝

We’re excited to introduce Sarah, our Counseling Practicum Student, who is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University.

Sarah believes that every person’s story matters—and that no matter what someone has experienced, healing and hope are possible.

With a special interest in family dysfunction, difficult childhood experiences, grief and loss, and helping people who feel lost or stuck in their story, Sarah brings warmth, curiosity, empathy, and genuine connection into the counseling room.

Her approach is grounded in Narrative Therapy, exploring the stories we carry about ourselves, our relationships, and our experiences while creating space to discover new possibilities for the chapters ahead.

Sarah is also passionate about the intersection of counseling, storytelling, and meaning-making. For clients who desire it, she is honored to thoughtfully integrate Christian faith into the counseling process.

When Sarah isn’t counseling, you can probably find her reading a book, antique shopping, planning her next trip, or talking about her love of all things 1970s and fall. 🍂📚✈️

We’re so grateful to have Sarah as part of the Whole Hive family! 🐝💛

Help us give Sarah a warm Whole Hive welcome!

Meet Amanda Bueno-Parr, LPC! 🐝

Amanda believes that healing our relationships with food and our bodies can be incredibly challenging in a world filled with diet culture, weight stigma, and messages about who and what our bodies are “supposed” to be.
Her approach is weight-inclusive, intersectional, multicultural, and trauma-informed. She works with individuals and couples and has experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and body image concerns.

Most importantly, Amanda strives to create a space where you can show up as you are—without judgment—and begin building greater self-trust. Amanda is currently accepting clients at Whole Hive Counseling. 💛 📞 Call 918-324-6120 to learn more or schedule an appointment.
