Dr. Matt Wilkett, Clinical Professor of Medicine at OSU Center for Health Sciences and Chief of Cardiology at OSU Medical Center, has come full circle in his Cowboy journey.
After beginning at OSU as a medical student and continuing through residency and fellowship, he now teaches and leads at the institution that helped shape his career. "OSUMC has been central to my professional development, and I'm proud to continue practicing and teaching at the institution where I trained," said Dr. Wilkett.
He credits the experience with giving him hands-on clinical training, strong mentorship and the opportunity to serve diverse and often underserved communities across Oklahoma.
Returning as faculty has been especially meaningful. "OSUMC played a formative role in my approach to medicine, and coming back has given me the opportunity to pay it forward to the next generation of physicians," he said.
For Dr. Wilkett, OSUMC's strength is its mission-driven approach to education, where trainees gain early responsibility and broad clinical exposure while fostering meaningful patient relationships under dedicated faculty mentorship.
βThat collaborative culture and hands-on learning have made OSUMC a strong training environment for 75 years,β he said. βThe future is bright.β
