This visualization is inspired by a passage from Ed Fields & Mary Rae’s book Journeying into Cherokee and their beliefs about leaning the challenging Cherokee verbs. “When you come across a word you don’t know, you should act as if you want to make the word’s acquaintance… invite the word into your home and tell it have a seat and get comfortable. Then get to know the word as if you were making a new friend, and let the word do the talking. If you are patient and listen to what it has to say, you will come to understand it, as you would a friend.” What would it feel like to treat even our most challenging feelings this way too?
