FYZICAL Tulsa FYZICAL Tulsa & Owasso is a medical and scientific-based physical therapy and fitness organization wi Please come see us and let us help you Love Your Life!

Genie and Mike Strakal opened their physical therapy practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2004. It was called The Center for Physical Therapy & Hand Rehabilitation. In order to improve their programs and provide better clinical service, they changed the name to FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers in 2015 after joining a national network of private practice physical therapists. You'll still receive the excellent care from the same team you came to love from The Center, but now at FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers. Both of the offices have new locations, as well as state of the art equipment and programs to better serve the populations of Tulsa and Owasso.

Small signs can matter. 🪜

Small balance changes can be easy to miss, but recognizing them early makes all the difference. Take a moment to check in on yourself or a loved one. Have you noticed:

- Holding onto furniture or walls while walking?
- Avoiding stairs or taking them extra slowly?
- Moving with less speed or confidence?
- Occasional dizziness or feeling unsteady?

These aren't just part of getting older-they are early signs worth paying attention to.

Did you know? Falling can occur because of disruptions to the body’s sensory and/or motor systems, causing loss of balance. To maintain balance, the brain must receive and interpret information from several different senses:

▪️ Vision (from the eyes) helps orient you to your environment.
▪️ Proprioception, or joint position sense (from your joints and muscles) helps to tell your brain where your body is in space.
▪️ The vestibular system (from the inner ear) senses motion, equilibrium, and head position.

Based on these inputs, the brain sends information to different muscles of the body to help maintain balance. Find the FYZICAL nearest you for a balance screening today, by visiting: https://hubs.li/Q02F_rX60

💜 FYZICAL Tulsa Walks to End Alzheimer’s 💜

At FYZICAL Tulsa, we are proud to support the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association through our annual participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This cause is deeply personal to our team, as we raise awareness and funds in honor of those affected by Alzheimer’s.

This year, our team raised nearly $2,000, contributing to Tulsa's ranking as one of the top 10 fundraising cities in the nation for this cause. It means so much to have the support of our company and team as we come together for a cause that touches so many lives.

The Alzheimer's Association is a lifeline for families, providing free consultations, support groups, and vital resources to help them navigate the daily challenges of caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a chance to fund critical research and support and a day of inspiration and community. With live performances, local leaders, and a sea of purple, we marched together through downtown Tulsa.

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, and supported this year’s efforts. Together, we are making a difference and moving closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.

How can you tell if your balance needs improvement?

Follow the single-leg stance test below to see if balance training could help:

▪️ Stand next to a counter, sink, or chair with your hand gently grasping the counter surface.
▪️ Leave your eyes open and put your hands on your hips. Grasp the surface or put your leg down if you start to feel unsteady during the test.
▪️ Stand on one leg unassisted and have a loved one time you once your foot leaves the ground. Stop the timer if you grasp the counter or when you put your second foot down.

If you were not able to stand on one leg for at least 10 seconds, your balance may need work! Find the clinic nearest you to learn more about our balance training program: https://hubs.li/Q02FWCM00
