D-Day occurred on June 6, 1944, marking the largest amphibious invasion in military history. Codenamed Operation Neptune (the assault phase of Operation Overlord), the mission launched the Allied liberation of Nazi-occupied Western Europe during World War II. Under the supreme command of U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower, nearly 160,000 Allied troops—primarily from the United States, Great Britain, and Canada—stormed a heavily fortified 50-mile stretch of the Normandy coast in France.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: DANYELLE SMITH

Danyelle has been serving families at Moore’s Southlawn Chapel since 2025 and has worked in the funeral industry since 2013. A native of Beggs, Oklahoma, she attended OSUIT in Okmulgee before continuing her education at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, where she earned her degree in Funeral Service in 2016. She later received her MBA from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, graduating with honors.

Danyelle is the proud mother of one daughter, Olivia. In her spare time, she enjoys adventure activities such as skydiving, hiking, and other outdoor sports. She also enjoys coffee and traveling to discover new coffee shops wherever she goes.

When asked what she loves most about funeral service, Danyelle says "she has always felt led to do this, to help families, and do what I was meant to do.". She appreciates that Moore’s treats both its employees and the families they serve like family.
