Today is bittersweet. If you’ve ever walked through our doors you have surely had the pleasure of seeing this bright beautiful face or hearing their boisterous contagious laugh. Today we celebrate Toris! They have been a part of Chimney Hills Animal Hospital for 12 years! While we celebrate this monumentous milestone we are also (with some tears) cheering them on as they close this chapter of their life here and start a new journey!

If Toris has impacted you and your pets over the past 12 years, we’d love to hear about it! Help us wish them farewell with all of the happy memories!

April is heartworm awareness month! Here are some facts you may not know!

❤️There is a risk of contracting heartworm disease ALL year round in Oklahoma

❤️The average cost of canine heartworm treatment is $800-$3000!

❤️The average yearly cost of heartworm prevention medication is $210

❤️Early stage heartworm disease often shows no symptoms

❤️Heartworm disease causes heart disease, lung disease and extensive damage to other organs

❤️Once bitten by an infected mosquito, it takes 6 months for heartworm larvae to mature and become detectable via diagnostic testing

❤️There is no treatment for cats that are infected with heartworm disease

❤️It only takes one bite from an infected mosquito for a cat or dog to contract heartworm disease
