Anxiety in adults often goes unnoticed—but that doesn’t make it any less real.
It can show up in the quiet moments, in the overthinking, in the constant “what ifs,” or the pressure to hold everything together while you’re struggling inside.
You are not alone in this.
You are not “too much.”
You are navigating something hard—and that matters.
Take a breath today. Slow down where you can. And remember, it’s okay to ask for support. 🤍

Becoming a therapist was a significant decision for me, far more intentional than just choosing a career path. I am passionate about helping others, and providing a warm, supportive, nurturing environment for my clients is a calling and significant part of my life’s purpose. It is my true honor to partner with you as you traverse the ups and downs you encounter in your life’s journey.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Evangel University, I chose the University of Oklahoma for my graduate degree. In 2007, I earned a master’s degree in Human Relations and began my career as a therapist, initially working in community mental health. In the following years, I continued working in a variety of mental health settings, including school-based social work, nonprofit agencies, and most recently private practice here at Connect and Restore.

A particular passion of mine is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a trauma-based therapy that is highly effective in reducing the emotional and physical impact of traumatic experiences. After working with this modality extensively with both children and adults, I earned “EMDR Certified” status through EMDRIA and am currently an EMDRIA approved EMDR Consultant, so I regularly coach other clinicians in EMDR basic training. Most recently, I have incorporated Internal Family Systems and Ego State work, as well as Somatic Integration and Processing into the therapeutic process with incredibly positive outcomes for clients.

An avid coffee drinker, a wife of 17 years, and a mom of two beautiful and brilliant sons (and two adorable West Highland Terriers), I also spend spare time being actively involved in my church and faith community and traveling to the beach every chance I get.

I came to the counseling profession through a combination of having experienced my own therapy, seeing transformational benefits in others, and having it confirmed in many ways as a calling. Prior to pursuing licensure as a counselor, I served on staff as a youth director at my church and leader of a recovery program for teens, for five years. From this, I came to deeply value the concept of “being with” people in whatever space they may currently be. My therapeutic lens is heavily influenced by Attachment Theory, Family Systems, & Person-Centered approaches to treatment. My hope is that people will feel heard, seen, and known in the context of a therapeutic relationship, as they learn to navigate transitions and challenges of life.

I have my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oklahoma State University as well as extensive post-graduate training in trauma, adoption, family systems, infant mental health, and play therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, an Endorsed Infant Mental Health Specialist (IMH-E®, level III), an Endorsed Reflective Supervisor, a Registered Play Therapist, an EMDR trained therapist, a TBRI Practitioner, a Circle of Security Parent facilitator, a rostered Child-Parent Psychotherapy clinician, trained in S.I.P. (Somatic Integration & Processing I), Theraplay Level 1 trained, Attachment & Bio-behavioral Catch-up credentialed, Traumaplay foundational level trained.

My husband and I reside locally with our four children, we are involved in our church, and enjoy being out in nature – particularly the mountains with the beach as a close second. Our home is joyfully and comically, a house divided by the Cowboys and the Sooners. Lastly, a note that highlights my greatest joy in life and one that shapes my passion for this work, is my role as a mother through both adoption and natural birth. My heart is deeply connected to the needs of families who are built in a variety of ways.

Coping skills aren’t about “fixing” emotions — they’re about helping us move through them safely and intentionally. 💛

Deep breathing, journaling, movement, grounding exercises, talking to someone you trust… small tools can make a big difference during hard moments.

What’s one coping skill that helps you reset? 🌿

My passion has always been helping and serving others, which is why I felt that counseling has always been my calling. I love walking alongside of people and watching them grow through their own healing journeys. With compassion and empathy being two of my stronger characteristics, I too can understand the challenges and obstacles that life can sometimes bring. Relationships and making people feel valued and unique are very important to me, therefore I focus on creating a safe space for trust and vulnerability with my clients. Specifically, I have enjoyed working with clients to help heal past traumas, bridge family communication barriers, and help improve emotional or behavioral patterns.

My areas of focus include children aging from 3 years old to 18 years old as well as adults. I meet individuals where they currently are and utilize integrative counseling theories that are tailored to each individual’s need such as Family Systems Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I implement Child Centered Play-Based Therapy and interactive methods and modalities such as Theraplay with my younger clients. I am also EMDR trained and currently working towards my EMDR certification. My hope is to build genuine relationships with my clients to create a safe and supportive environment that can sometimes be direct, but also incorporate some humor as well into my sessions to help clients feel comfortable and at ease.

Play is a child’s language — and through play therapy, children can safely express feelings they may not yet have words for. 🧸💛
Whether they’re struggling with anxiety, grief, trauma, behavior challenges, or big emotions, play therapy creates a safe space for healing, growth, and connection.

Every toy, drawing, and game can become part of their story — and part of their healing. 🌈✨

Courtney Gillespie

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Neurofeedback Technician. My journey started nearly 8 years ago as a Master’s level intern during graduate school. Since then, I have grown alongside the practice, improving my skills and finding new ways to help my clients.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Addictions Counseling from Northeastern State University.

For several years now, I have been providing counseling to teens and adults aged 11 and up. I especially enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to help my clients work toward their goals. Before I became a therapist, I worked with the juvenile justice system and advocated for women struggling with addiction. These experiences shaped my understanding and continue to influence the compassion and support I bring to my work today.

I am currently working on becoming certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). My focus on this area reflects my dedication to supporting clients through the challenges of pregnancy, loss, and the postpartum period, offering caring and specialized help during these important life moments.

I strongly believe in the benefits of neurofeedback as a treatment option that doesn’t involve medication, especially for conditions like anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and emotional regulation issues.

My training in neurofeedback is extensive, and I am qualified to offer services using QEEG-guided amplitude, z-score, sLoreta, and Infraslow Neurofeedback techniques for both children and adults. I am also working toward certification in Biofeedback.

Outside of work, I have been married for 12 years and am the proud mother of three children. I find a lot of happiness in creating memories with my family and spending time outdoors.
