As this season shifts a bit, I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for trusting me with your skin.

Thank you for allowing me into vulnerable conversations.

Thank you for coming back year after year.

Being your dermatologist is a privilege I don’t take lightly.

While I may not be as active on IG moving forward, I am still here doing what I love — caring for you in the office!

Grateful for each of you. 🤍

When should you see a dermatologist vs. your primary care doctor?

See your P*P for:
• Basic rashes
• General health concerns

See a dermatologist for:
• Changing moles
• Persistent or worsening rashes
• Severe or scarring acne
• Suspicious growths
• Chronic skin conditions
• Full skin exams

Primary care doctors are incredible at managing whole-body health.

Dermatologists specialize in diagnosing and treating complex skin diseases and lesions.

When in doubt — ask your doctor. We’re always happy to guide you.

Skincare is not one size fits all.

Acne ≠ agingRosacea ≠ eczemaDry skin ≠ dehydrated skin

Two people can have redness and need completely different treatments.
Two people can have breakouts and require totally different prescriptions.

Trending products are not personalized care.

Your skin deserves a plan based on diagnosis — not TikTok.

What I’m actually looking for during your skin exam 👀

The ABCDEs (Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, Evolving) are helpful for patients at home, but during your exam, I’m looking much deeper.

🔎 Abnormal dermoscopic patterns that aren’t visible to the naked eye
🦆 “Ugly duckling” lesions that don’t match your other moles
🩸 Spots that bleed easily
⚪ Scaly lesions that could be precancerous
🎨 Subtle pigment changes that signal early melanoma

My goal is to evaluate as many pigment lesions as possible and catch anything concerning early.. sometimes before you’d ever notice it.

Skin exams are about more than what you can see in the mirror.

You Should See a Dermatologist If…

• A mole is changing
• A rash won’t go away• Your acne is leaving scars• A spot keeps bleeding or is painful
• You haven’t had your annual skin check (and you have risks for skin cancer such as blistering sunburn, family history of skin cancer, and/or history of indoor tanning)

If something is new, changing, itching, bleeding, or just doesn’t feel right — don’t wait.

Early evaluation can prevent long-term damage and, in some cases, save your life.

Your skin is an organ. It deserves medical attention when something’s off.

Skin cancer awareness reminder ☀️

1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.

Here’s how to stay ahead:
✔️ If you are fair, wear SPF 30+ daily on sun exposed skin (yes, even on cloudy days)
✔️ Reapply every 2 hours outdoors
✔️ Avoid tanning beds
✔️ Wear protective clothing + hats
✔️ Schedule annual skin exams

We would always rather see you early than late.

A quick visit for a “nothing” spot is far better than waiting on something serious.

Prevention and early detection matter.

✨ What patients think I do vs. what I actually do ✨

What people picture:💆‍♀️ Facials🧴 Recommending cute skincare✨ “Popping pimples” all day

What I actually do:🔬 Diagnose skin cancer📋 Chart + review pathology reports💊 Prescribe and manage medications🩺 Perform procedures👩‍⚕️ Coordinate care with other physicians📞 Call patients with biopsy results

Dermatologists are medical doctors (MD/DO) with 16,000 hours of patient care training prior to board-certification. They diagnose and treat diseases of the skin, hair, and nails, perform skin surgery (e.g., excise skin cancer, cysts, and other skin tumors), and do medical grade cosmetic treatments.

Estheticians are skincare professionals focused on cosmetic services and product guidance.

Both are valuable — but our training and scope are very different.

Healthy skin is more than surface level.

..they’re about skin health.

Here’s what this treatment helps with 👇

✨ Improving skin tone and texture

✨ Reducing redness and pigmentation

✨ Stimulating collagen for smoother, more even skin

✨ Supporting long-term skin health (not just quick fixes)

One of the biggest misconceptions is that laser treatments are only for “older” skin. In reality, they can be helpful for teens and adults alike, depending on the concern — whether that’s redness, acne scarring, sun damage, or uneven tone.

As a dermatologist (and a mom), safety always comes first. That’s why laser treatments should be customized, medically guided, and done at the right time with the right technology.

Healthy skin is about prevention, consistency, and choosing treatments that make sense for your skin — not chasing trends.

💬 Curious if a laser treatment might be right for you? We’re always happy to talk through options.

No two days in the office ever look the same.

From early mornings getting ready and charting, to checking in with this incredible team, to assessments, procedures, and treatments — every day brings something different.

That’s part of what I love about dermatology.

It’s part science, part problem-solving, part relationships.

And no two patients or days are exactly alike.

Busy? Yes.

Predictable? Never.

Boring? Not even close.

Grateful for meaningful work, a team that shows up every day, and the privilege of caring for patients in so many different ways.

Doctors need doctors, too!

Dr. Buster recently had a routine colonoscopy and received a clean bill of health.. the best kind of news!

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early. A colonoscopy doesn’t just find cancer, it can prevent it by removing precancerous polyps before they become a problem.

🩺 Screening guidelines to know:
• Average risk adults should begin screening at age 45
• If results are normal, many people don’t need another for 10 years
• Earlier screening may be recommended if you have symptoms or a family history

If you’ve been putting it off, let this be your reminder. Preventive care is powerful, and taking care of your health allows you to keep showing up for the people who need you.
