~Scapegoat Recovery Group Mental Health: I specialize in marriage/partner/family therapy, children’s therapy (play therapy--I had the privilege of training at the University of Mississippi and the Oxfor

d Play Therapy Institute), adoption/infertility, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse/narcissistic abuse, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, mood/personality disorders. On a personal note, I would describe myself as a "think outside the box, real talk" type of individual who values authenticity. I recognize the struggles each unique person experiences in the challenges that come with just "daily life". Let me emphasize that THERAPY IS FOR EVERYONE. Everyone has problems they need help navigating from time to time, as we are all human. There are a variety of reasons one may benefit from therapy. Many simply find the value in talking with a trusted person outside their circle of family/friends who can remain unbiased, for example. It is my passion to help others achieve their goals. I am excited to help you start your journey to healthier YOU. Heal for your children, normalize seeking help for yourself and children, and know you are not alone. When asked what the requirement is for seeking therapy, my reply is simply "being human". Owner/Founder of Lighthouse Children & Family Therapy, LLC

You never have to prove yourself or explain yourself to anyone.
Never. Ever.

Simply be true to yourself, of course without harming others, and wish people well who misunderstand you. 🌿

It's okay. Let people misunderstand you.
The person who matters most in your life is the one looking back in the mirror. 🔍

(Trust signs, pattens, and intuition more than you trust people’s words.-Vex King)

Apparently life's too short to harbor resentment. I think life's too short to keep extending grace to people who've already shown you who they are. There's a difference between holding grudges and protecting yourself from repeat harm.

Holding grudges means you're still emotionally tied to them. Still waiting for apologies or acknowledgment or justice that never comes. That's a waste of your limited time. But refusing to give endless chances? That's not grudge holding. That's wisdom. That's learning.

Life's too short to keep extending grace to people who've already shown you who they are. When someone reveals their character through repeated actions, believe them. You don't need to give them another chance to prove they're the same person. You don't need to wait for them to change. You just need to accept that this is who they choose to be, and move accordingly.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is perspective: the understanding that so often, people don't react to us — they react from themselves. From their stress, their wounds, their unhealed places.

Most of the noise coming from the people around your child has absolutely nothing to do with them.

When someone lashes out, projects their stress, or handles a situation poorly, they are simply revealing the weight of their own exhaustion. Teaching your child to see this is about protecting their spirit. It allows them to differentiate between someone else’s internal storm and their own worth, so they can lay down a burden that never belonged to them in the first place.

But that perspective has to cut both ways. It isn't just a shield to protect them; it is a mirror that forces them to look quietly within. Because sometimes, it isn't projection at all. Sometimes it is valid, constructive criticism.

True discernment means teaching them how to sit with their own state of being and figure out the difference. We want them to have the maturity to look at feedback — even when it feels uncomfortable — and ask themselves honestly if there is a truth inside it that they need to work on. It is about learning to reject the darts that are meant to hurt, while staying humble enough to accept the critiques that can actually help them grow.

The ultimate purpose of building this muscle isn't just to make them bulletproof. It is to keep them from getting knocked off course by the opinions of the room.

When a child learns how to look at their own heart clearly while discerning the inputs of others, they don't waste their lives reacting to the crowd. They take a quiet breath, stay steady, and keep moving forward with a certain clarity about who they are. ❤️
