Join University Medical Center for a free community event until 1pm today at the Akron Public Library (207 First Avenue Street, Akron) as part of UMC's Health Aging series titled "Healthy Aging: Adding Life to Years, Simple Steps for Better Health, Independence, and Well-Being."

The Healthy Aging series offers practical tips and resources to help adults maintain their health, independence and quality of life. Topics include preventive care, annual wellness visits, chronic disease management, nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being and fall prevention. The next Healthy Aging event will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 9am at the McKenzie Court Activity Center (2525 Lanier Avenue, Tuscaloosa).

Join University Medical Center for the Senior Citizen Wellness and Fun Day Tuesday, August 18, from 10am to 2pm at the Livingston Community Center (205 Coleman Drive, Livingston).

UMC nurses Sandra Watson and Dimetra Wiggins-Rollins will be present at the event offering free health screenings. Attendees can also learn about the health care services UMC provides at its six West Alabama clinics. The event is free and open to the public.
