The moment fertilization happens, the embryo is not immediately independent.

Around day 3, the embryo gradually begins activating its own genome and taking more control over its development.
Which is one of the reasons I talk so much about Trimester Zero.
Because pregnancy does not start the day the test turns positive.
Long before pregnancy, the body is already shaping the environment where early development begins.
Sleep, stress, hormone health, nutrition, inflammation, and metabolic health matter more than we used to think
And honestly, one of the most beautiful parts of embryology is this:
even before the embryo activates its own genes, its earliest development is already deeply connected to the health of the mother
