PPID (Cushing's Disease) develops when the pituitary gland in a horse’s brain becomes overactive, leading to an abnormal release of hormones, particularly ACTH. This hormonal disruption can gradually influence several areas of health, including metabolism, immune function, coat growth, and overall well-being.
Because hormones, the nervous system, and stress responses are closely connected, supporting multiple systems is an important part of a comprehensive wellness approach.
Our Hormone Balancer and Just Chill formulas are designed to support the pituitary, pineal, hypothalamus, thyroid, and the AM and PM adrenal gland needs through a multi-system approach.
How do these blends work together?
» Hormonal & Neurological Balance
Adaptogens such as ginseng, ashwagandha, and holy basil support the body’s stress response, while bacopa, ginkgo, and lion’s mane provide support for brain health and neurological function.
» Relaxation & Stress Support
Chamomile, passionflower, lemon balm, and magnesium promote calm and relaxation. Managing stress is an important consideration for horses with PPID.
» Inflammation & Everyday Comfort
Ginger, cinnamon, nettle, and flax offer supportive properties for inflammation management, helping maintain joint, tissue, and overall physical comfort.
» Healthy Circulation & Hoof Support
Ginkgo, gotu kola, cinnamon, and nattokinase support healthy circulation, an important consideration for horses susceptible to laminitis.
» Immune Function & Metabolic Support
Astragalus, reishi, cordyceps, amino acids, and trace minerals help support immune function, muscle maintenance, and metabolic health.
