I am a momma to 2 bio and 2 adopted. I am childbirth/postpartum educator as well as a full spectrum doula with a special focus on postpartum. I am currently continuing my education to become certified in Maternal Mental Health and Psychotherapy. As an educator and birth doula my goal is to empower and educate my mommas so that they are fully informed and able advocate for themselves. I want to pro

vide support and comfort so that there is no fear of birth. As a postpartum doula which is where my heart is my goal is to heal our mommas. I am there to help, guide, talk and heal through any and all postpartum issues. As a postpartum doula I am speaking up and bringing light to postpartum issues, mood disorders and struggles. We need to normalize asking for help, we need to normalize support and we need to normalize healing our mothers because maternal mental health matters!

Postpartum mood disorders can happen to any mother.

They don’t care how much you love your children, how strong your faith is, or how “good” of a mom everyone believes you are.

We have to do better.

Our mothers need support systems. We need medical professionals who truly listen. We need family and friends who educate themselves instead of dismissing the signs. We need safe places where mothers can say, “I’m not okay,” without fear of judgment.

I have compassion for Lindsay Clancy because I know how terrifying postpartum mental illness can be. I could have been one decision away from being where she is. I know what it feels like to desperately need help and feel unheard.

No mother should have to reach a breaking point before anyone believes her.

This tragedy shouldn’t only make us grieve—it should make us ask how we can better recognize, support, and treat mothers before families reach a crisis.

She deserved better.
Her babies deserved better.
Every mother deserves better.

🤍 If you’re a mama who is struggling, please hear this:
You are not alone.
You are not weak.
You are not a burden.
You deserve to be heard.
You deserve support.
You deserve treatment.
You deserve hope.

I will always be a safe place. I’ll sit with you in the darkness, hold your hand through the hardest days, and help you find the support you need.

It’s time we stop asking mothers to suffer in silence and start showing up for them.

SHE WAS FAILED! The medical system FAILED her! WE HAVE TO DO BETTER, she deserved better, those babies deserved better. She begged for help, she screamed for help and every healthcare provider failed her and should be held accountable for what she did.

I am angry.

Not because this story is shocking anymore—but because we keep hearing them.

Another mother in crisis.
Another family forever changed.
Another reminder that maternal mental health is still not being treated with the urgency it deserves.

The story of Lindsay Clancy is heartbreaking. Whatever the legal outcome, it has reignited a conversation that desperately needs to happen: our mothers are telling us they need help, and too often they are not truly being heard.

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders affect 1 in 5 mothers, and postpartum psychosis, while rare, is a psychiatric emergency. Yet so many healthcare providers receive limited training in recognizing and treating maternal mental health conditions.

We cannot keep dismissing women.

We cannot keep telling exhausted, terrified mothers that they’ll be fine.
We cannot keep relying on another prescription without making sure they’re actually being seen, heard, assessed, and supported.

Our mothers deserve providers who are educated.

They deserve communities that know the warning signs.

They deserve safe spaces where they can say, “I’m scared. I’m not okay.” without fear of judgment.

As doulas, nurses, physicians, therapists, family members, and friends, we have a responsibility to listen. To advocate. To ask the hard questions. To refuse to let another mother suffer in silence.

I am tired of hearing stories where women reached out for help and somehow still fell through the cracks.

We can do better.
We must do better.

Because every mother deserves compassionate, evidence-based care.
Because every family matters.
Because maternal mental health is not optional—it is lifesaving.

One of the most beautiful things I’ve learned in this work is that no one is meant to carry birth alone; not families, not midwives, not providers, not nurses, and not doulas.

We ask parents to build a support team because we know birth is too big, too sacred, and too demanding to navigate without people who will encourage them, ground them, and remind them they’re not alone.

So why do we often try to navigate this work alone or feel ashamed when we need a village or support?

We witness some of life’s most joyful moments. We also witness heartbreak, trauma, loss, and the emotional weight that birth can carry. We pour ourselves into families at all hours of the day and night, often putting our own needs on hold so we can show up fully for someone else.

Who holds us?

This work becomes sustainable when we have each other.

Community doesn’t make us weaker; it makes us better, stronger, and more ready to support mothers.

The birth world doesn’t need more competition. It needs more collaboration.
More encouragement.
More referrals.
More cheering each other on.
More saying, “I’ve got you. How can I help?”

Because when doulas are supported, they can continue showing up wholeheartedly for the families who need them.

Let’s normalize doulas having doulas. Let’s build a birth community where caring for one another is just as important as caring for our clients.

We’re not meant to do this alone.

dear mom: this is your reminder you were never meant to carry it all alone.

This Maternal Mental Health Month, we hope you remember that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. 🤍🤍🤍

Because postpartum psychosis may include highly stigmatized symptoms like unwanted hom*c*d*l thoughts and urges, we need to ensure that both those suffering and their loved ones feel safe seeking out care. That’s why public awareness of PPP is so important.

Let me re-introduce myself, 👋🏻 I’m Jackie — a doula, childbirth educator, maternal mental health professional, and mom of 4. 🤍

I’ve been serving families in birth work for a little over 6 years now, and supporting women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and education has become one of the greatest callings of my life.

I am:
✨ Certified MSP/Doula
✨ Certified Childbirth Educator
✨ PMH-C trained in Maternal Mental Health
✨ Extensively trained in postpartum support & perinatal mental health
✨ Co-founder of Magic Valley Doula Collective
✨ Doula Coordinator & Class Educator for Sage Women’s Center

I specialize in supporting women navigating previous birth trauma, anxiety, PMADs, and emotionally complex pregnancy and postpartum experiences. I am deeply passionate about helping women feel informed, empowered, supported, and truly seen throughout their journey into motherhood.

My approach to birth work is rooted in evidence-based education, compassionate support, advocacy, and faith. I believe birth matters. The way a woman is cared for matters. Her mental and emotional wellbeing matter.

I am committed to continue to build the birth community and serve women here in the Magic Valley.

Whether you are preparing for your first baby or healing from a previous birth experience that didn’t go as planned, my goal is to walk alongside you with calm, knowledge, encouragement, and unwavering support.

I intentionally take a limited number of clients so I can provide attentive, high-quality, deeply personalized care to every family I serve.

If you are looking for a doula who prioritizes advocacy, education, emotional wellbeing, and wholehearted support, I would be honored to walk this journey with you. 🤍
