What comes to mind when you hear the word "ultrasound"? For most people, it’s seeing a baby for the first time! While prenatal imaging is the most famous use of this technology, we actually don't perform obstetric ultrasounds here at Innovative Medical Imaging. Instead, we use this incredible technology for a wide variety of other vital diagnostics!

Happy National Women’s Health Week! This week is all about empowering you to take the reins when it comes to your health and wellness. Let’s talk about two crucial things every woman should know about medical imaging:

1. You don’t need a referral for a mammogram. That’s right! You do not need a doctor's order to schedule your annual screening mammogram. You can simply call us directly and take that proactive step for your health.

2. Your imaging, your choice.

If your doctor does give you a referral for women’s health imaging (like an ultrasound or DEXA scan), remember this: you are in the driver’s seat. You are never required to visit the specific imaging center your doctor suggests. It is your absolute right as a patient to choose the facility where you feel most comfortable.
