Making a Difference, One Project at a Time!

On October 17th, seven incredible volunteers from Modern Woodmen of America rolled up their sleeves and joined us at Rising Stars to help bring an exciting project to completion, the construction of a new shed serving three additional horse runs!

Made possible through the Modern Woodmen of America Impact Challenge, this project did more than provide much-needed improvements to our ranch. It brought community-minded volunteers right to our doorstep, where they shared their time, talents, and hard work to make a lasting difference.

As Rising Stars continues to grow and expand, these additional horse runs will be a valuable addition, helping us meet the needs of our ranch and the horses who call it home.

We are so grateful for the generosity, teamwork, and willingness to jump in and help. Modern Woodmen of America, thank you for showing up when we needed you most! Your impact will be felt for years to come!

Today we were honored to have Ms. Skidmore from Buhl High School stop by to present us with a check from the school’s culinary students! ❤️

This semester, these students have been learning the art of baking, and they decided to put their skills to work for a cause they believed in. They held a bake sale during the lunch hour and raised over $700, and chose Rising Stars as the recipient! 🥹🐴

It may seem like “just” $700, but to us, every little bit adds up to something BIG.

💙 $700 can provide two riders with a full 10-week session.
🌾 It can help provide grain and supplements for one of our horses for an entire year.
💡 It can help keep the lights on for three months.
🌾 And this is the amount we just paid for the load of alfalfa hay that was delivered to our ranch!

That’s the beautiful thing about community support, it turns a bake sale into lessons, hay, horse care, electricity, and opportunities for our participants. Every dollar truly matters.

To the culinary students at Buhl High School: THANK YOU! Thank you for thinking of Rising Stars, for working hard, and for sharing the fruits of your efforts with us. We are incredibly grateful! 🐴❤️

And Ms. Skidmore, thank you for helping these students see that what they are learning can make a difference far beyond the classroom.

We appreciate you more than you know!

We had a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner this week… and apparently we had TOO much fun because we completely forgot to take pictures! 😂❤️
Our volunteers give so much of their time, energy, and hearts to Rising Stars. We truly could never repay them for all they do for our participants, our horses, and our program.
One of our favorite parts of the evening was letting our participants help with the dinner. They’re always asking, “What can I do?” So this was their chance to serve the people who spend so much time serving them. 🥰 Just a small token of gratitude for some pretty incredible people.
And just to put their impact into perspective…
🐴 Over 4,000 volunteer hours so far this year!
💙 Those are 4,000+ hours of work that Rising Stars would otherwise have to pay employees or additional help to complete. At an estimated $15/hour, that represents about $60,000 in wages we haven’t had to spend.
That doesn’t even begin to measure what their time is truly worth to us.
They are the extra hands, the encouraging voices, the smiles, the helpers in the arena, the people behind the scenes, and so much more.
To every Rising Stars volunteer: THANK YOU. We couldn’t do what we do without you! ❤️🐴

Remembering Our Beloved Paisley 🤍🐴

The last year has not been an easy one here at the ranch. This summer, we said goodbye to another very special member of our Rising Stars family—Paisley.

Trying to put 12 years of history into one Facebook post is nearly impossible. There are so many memories, so many riders, volunteers, staff members, and families who have a Paisley story to tell. And choosing just a few pictures to represent the impact she had on Rising Stars? That might be the hardest part of all. These photos are only a small glimpse of the love, memories, and moments she gave us over the years.

Paisley was the 4th horse Rising Stars purchased for our programs, and for 12 years she gave so much of herself to our riders, volunteers, staff, and families. She truly was one of the best.

Our “Cadillac” and the first pick of many volunteers, Paisley was loved by so many. If you have ridden at Rising Stars over the years, there is a very good chance that you rode Paisley. She was a familiar face and a very special part of so many riders' experiences and memories.

Paisley was also the leader of our herd. She kept everyone in line and made sure the other horses knew who was in charge! But she had a special soft spot for the boys and loved being around them. She had a personality all her own and certainly left her mark on the ranch.

As we began our fall session, her absence has been felt. The ranch just doesn't feel quite the same without her.

For 12 years, Paisley was part of the heart of Rising Stars. She carried riders, welcomed volunteers, made memories, and gave love in the way only a special horse can.

Paisley, we love you and are so grateful for all the love you gave to our program. Thank you for the countless memories, the miles, and the many lives you touched. Your hoofprints will forever remain on our hearts. 🤍

Run free, sweet girl. 🐴🌈

We will always remember our Paisley.
