***Practice Update***
Sitting down to write and share an important practice update coming this fall. This update has been weighing heavy on my heart. Caring for Okanogan County area families has been and is one of the great joys and blessings of my life. I have so much gratitude for the trust you have placed in me and the continual support you have shown my midwifery practice over the years. The love I have for you feels bigger than my heart can hold.
My husband has accepted a job opportunity in Virginia with his employer. This was done with a lot of prayer and we know this the right thing for our family at this time. This means our family will be moving in the fall to Virginia.
I will continue to own Methow Valley Midwifery but will mostly be doing the less fun “business” side of the business. Stefanie will continue to be an amazing midwife at Methow Valley Midwifery providing patient care. I will be around occasionally to cover off call times for Stefanie and to continue to support the success of the Maple Street Birth Center as a co-owner.
This feels like a hard thing for me personally but I have put my faith in God and will continue to do so knowing He knows the beginning from the end.
I will continue to be in clinic and attending births prior to our move. I will also be available via phone and text to answer any questions you may have about this transition as well as ongoing midwifery concerns. Stefanie will also be available, feel free to group text if you like.
I welcome your prayers and thank you for your support.
Much love,
Sarah

💕Happy Mother’s Day! 💕

”Babies have always been an inconvenience… and the most glorious thing you can do to enrich your family and to make a bet on the future”~Ben Sasse

One of the many things I love about midwifery is the joy and hope I have for society from the gift of witnessing Mama’s choosing to do the work that invests in the future.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mamas who are making that bet on the future and changing the world one day at a time. You are the foundation! 💐💕

This week is nurses week and I want to give a shout out to the OB nurses at Mid Valley Hospital, Lake Chelan Health, and Confluence Health Central WA hospital for the care they provide for birthing families in our community. Nursing care makes a huge difference in the way people feel about their hospital experiences which in turn affects maternal mental health. It also happens to be Postpartum Mental Health awareness month. Thank you nurses for looking out for the mental health of our mothers. Delivered some appreciation today. 💐😊🙌

A little línea nIgra love for your Valentine’s Day! 💕💕💕
“Linea nigra, also known as the pregnancy line, is a dark vertical line that appears on the abdomen during pregnancy, typically running from the p***c area to the belly button. It is caused by hormonal changes from the placenta that increase melanin production and usually fades after childbirth. It’s present in about 80% of pregnancies.“ This one was particularly decorative!
