Read, pray through and meditate in psalm 127. Verse 2 specifically convicted me today as I was up early getting tasks done before my kids awoke.

Then , you parents out there, continue on to verses 3-5 about the Lords view( in this case spoken through solomon) of your children.

I hope this encourages your heart the way it did mine today. When your bible reading plan and a separate devotional highlight the same passage, you would be wise to stop and meditate on why.

Prayer can be powerful and the Bible contains much wisdom in how to do it to the Glory of God

Responding to God’s Word through heartfelt confession and prayer draws us deeper into the reality of this love. While we all wrestle with sin in this fallen world, it doesn’t mean we should turn our faces away from God. We can turn toward the One who loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to take our place on the cross and bear the full weight of our sin's punishment.

Today Jesus sits at God’s right hand as an Advocate for all who believe in Him, ready to hear our confession and to speak on our behalf as the One who has reconciled us to God.

When you feel distant from God, what practical steps can you take to turn back toward Him?

Grace doesn't mean excusing sinful behavior but, in counseling at least, means to meet someone where they are at, nonjudgementally, and encourage them with truth, hope and love.

A massive umbrella review on depression and exercise found that walking can be even more effective than counseling or medication…especially when you take it outside.

When cortisol stays elevated, your body shifts into a constant stress response. Over time, that can impact mood, increase anxiety, disrupt sleep, and contribute to symptoms of depression. And a lot of what drives that today is simple…poor sleep, unstable blood sugar, lack of sunlight, and not enough movement.

The good news is, the solutions are simple too. Prioritize 7–9 hours of quality sleep, get sunlight within an hour of waking, walk outside regularly, and make sure you’re eating enough protein to stabilize blood sugar. Even a simple morning walk can support your circadian rhythm, regulate cortisol, and improve mood all at once.

If you want to go deeper into how to truly heal from the inside out, I break this down in my new book, Heal Your Cells, co-authored with Dr. Will Cole. We walk through key nutrient deficiencies that contribute to poor mental health, and share how you can restore your body at the cellular level.

Why "Do everything without grumbling" is actually for US. ✋📖

Okay parents, adults, and well...everyone

We (myself included at times) often quote Philippians 2:14—"Do everything without grumbling or arguing"—when our kids are whining about chores or bedtime. But if we actually read the Bible and look at the surrounding verses, the message is directed at us, the grown-ups.

The context is about being "blameless and pure" in a crooked generation. Verse 15 says we are meant to "shine like stars" in the world. 🌟

okay? So what Alyx?

Our kids learn how to handle frustration by watching us!

Have you ever watched yourself complain or be angry in the mirror? Probably not often right? But why not? For me...it's because I don't like what I see and it's similar to what we see in our children.

If we constantly complain about work, traffic, or chores, we can't expect them to be cheerful.

These verses are a call for our OWN heart-work much more than it's to be used a tool for behavior management.

Let's focus on being the "light" in our homes today by checking our own attitudes first. Our peace comes from the Lord and should point our children to the Lord. 🤍
