Sister Josephine offered a presentation on ADHD and related needs to parents with The Fostering Collective this evening. The Fostering Collective does amazing work for families who are fostering, have adopted through fostering or those wanting support as they navigate entering the fostering process. Sr-Josephine Garrett is an ADHD certified clinical services provider; she is not taking new ongoing clients at this time, but does have openings for those who would like support with consultation, assessment (children and adults), professional development or parent workshops, or support related to advocacy in education settings. Thank you to Tiffany, LMSW, their on staff trauma specialist for the invitation and for the wonderful work she does for families in the East Texas community.

We are excited about and proud of our Masters Level Intern here at REMM Counseling. Kirbie is in her second semester with our team and we are looking forward to her joining the ranks of licensed professional counselors upon her graduation in May.

Kirbie Thomas is a mental health counseling intern serving children, individuals, and couples in Texas. She works with concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, parenting stress, behavioral concerns in children, and adjustment to difficult life transitions. Kirbie has a particular interest in early childhood and adolescent mental health and helping children and their caregivers build strong, supportive relationships.

Kirbie’s approach is collaborative, practical, and compassionate. She focuses on helping clients understand patterns, build coping skills, improve communication, and strengthen connections within their families and relationships. Whether working with a child, an individual, or a couple, Kirbie strives to create a respectful and welcoming space where clients feel heard, supported, and encouraged to grow.

Her goal is to help people move toward greater stability, healthier relationships, and a life that feels more balanced and meaningful.

10 week small group opportunity for teen girls…weekly on Mondays at 6pm beginning Sept 8th, 6-7pm at 305 W Rusk St, Tyler 75701

$5 per week. Thanks to a grant received from Catholic Charities, sessions are only $5 dollars per session, with a total of $50 dollars for the full 10 weeks. Each girl will also receive a new Bible if she does not have one already. Thank you Catholic Charities for making this group more accessible!

The Walking With Purpose ministry Sisters of Strength and BLAZE teen programs bridge the gap between the truths God reveals to us through Scripture and a teen girl’s ability to receive those truths in a way that feels relevant to her daily life. These two programs will be our guide for our meetings.

Ultimately, these programs teach teen girls about their inherent dignity and goodness. This is achieved through a beautiful progression in the curriculum. It begins with friendship, because that is what we have found the girls are most concerned about. Then Sisters of Strength teaches the girls about their identity. The goal is for the girls to see themselves through the eyes of God and enter into a relationship with Him. The final section is on purpose and God’s plan for His daughters.

This group will be facilitated by a counselor, who will help integrate mental health concerns like self esteem, developing boundaries, and overall development of identity into the curriculum.
