At our September board meeting, Andrews Behavioral Health recognized other community partners whose generous support helped make Connections: East Texas 2026 Behavioral Health Summit a success.

We were pleased to honor two outstanding East Texas partners—Optimum Media and Southside Bank—for helping bring our community together to learn about behavioral health resources and opportunities.

Optimum Media has supported the Summit all three years it has been held. In total, Optimum has provided an extraordinary $18,000 in cable and digital advertising, helping us reach East Texans throughout the region. We were delighted to recognize Rich Davis for championing this generous contribution.

Southside Bank, a Tyler-based institution with deep roots in East Texas, supported the Summit as a Platinum Sponsor. We were pleased to recognize Lonny Uzzell, Chief Business Development Officer, for the bank's commitment to strengthening our community.

The free Summit brought hundreds of East Texans together, with approximately 100 nonprofits and community organizations sharing resources and regional leaders exploring opportunities for collaboration.

Thank you, Optimum Media and Southside Bank, for helping connect our community to care. Together, we are moving mountains in mental healthcare!

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we recognize the importance of listening to people with lived experience—not only to understand their challenges, but to learn from their insights and help shape better care.

At Andrews Behavioral Health, we believe meaningful change begins with listening, grows through understanding, and leads to hope.

Because better mental health care isn't just about what we do for people. It's about what we can accomplish together.

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of Service!

Please join us in congratulating Rita Coats on 20 years of dedicated service to Andrews Behavioral Health!

Rita began her career with Andrews in 2006 at our Child Development and Treatment Center, working with children from infancy through age 18. She later moved to our Tyler main center, where she continued to grow professionally, becoming Medication Assistance Supervisor in 2015.

Through our Medication Assistance Program, Rita and her team help clients obtain free or reduced-cost medications by working with pharmaceutical companies. Last year alone, the program helped clients access approximately $1.2 million worth of medications they otherwise might not have been able to afford.

Rita's outstanding service has also earned her recognition as Employee of the Month and Employee of the Quarter in 2024.

Last week, we welcomed community partners, local leaders and friends to the open house for the new Andrews Behavioral Health Diversion Center in Tyler.

These photos capture that special day. But what matters most is what will happen here in the days ahead.

When someone is experiencing a behavioral health crisis, the emergency room or jail has too often been the only available option. And sometimes, neither is the right place.

The Diversion Center offers another path—a calming place where individuals can receive timely screening, observation and short-term stabilization, with connections to the care and resources they need next.

With 23-hour observation services and crisis respite through Hope House, the center gives law enforcement, families and our communities a valuable alternative when someone needs help.

We loved opening our doors and sharing the center with our community. Now we're looking forward to the work that happens inside them.

A better way. A better path forward.

Yesterday’s open house at the Andrews Behavioral Health Diversion Center was a wonderful success. So many community members joined us to celebrate and tour the facility before we officially begin serving East Texas.

What is a diversion center?

When someone is struggling with a mental health crisis, an emergency room or jail is not always the best place for them. Our Diversion Center provides another and often more appropriate option: a place where EMS and law-enforcement officers can bring someone in crisis for timely screening and assessment, helping determine the best next step for that client. Individuals can also visit the facility for immediate help.

Here, people will find caring professionals trained in behavioral healthcare. Clients may stay with us for up to 23 hours while we help connect them with the care they need. That could mean transfer to a more intensive behavioral health facility, returning home with appropriate support, or spending several days regrouping at our crisis respite facility, Hope House, which is located within the diversion center.

Our five-county service area has needed a facility like this for many years. We are proud to see this dream become reality, and grateful to the public-safety partners, community organizations, and supporters who helped make the Diversion Center possible.

The Andrews diversion center is located at 3111 North Northwest Loop 323 in Tyler.

Andrews has a strong connection with CampV, which where our Green Zone program is located.

We love and appreciate our veterans and do everything we can to support them in their day-to-day lives.

Meet Beya and Kristin! They are peers with the Andrews Center Behavioral Healthcare System and will be helping us out over here at the Green Zone! They are starting a group for veterans and their family members discussing a variety of topics including, PTSD, anxiety, depression, financial stress, and family/caregiver support!

Andrews Behavioral Health is having a great day at the Big Texas Rally for Recovery in Bergfeld Park!

It is a day of awareness, discovery of community resources, and—most of all—a celebration of recovery.

We have two tables at the event: one representing Andrews Behavioral Health overall and another for our LOSS Team program, which provides outreach to su***de survivors and works toward zero su***de in our service area.

Thank you to Mari, Sofia, and all the other Andrews team members and members of the public who came out to be part of this important outreach effort. What a great community we live in!
