My proudest moments as a coach are when my clients continue to kick ass, long after they've finished working with me.

Take my client Donna, for example.

She did amazing work with me in my 12-week Foundations program for health coaching, Stronger Happier Healthier. Now, over a year later, she's maintained her 25 lb weight loss with ease and is enjoying the complete mindset and lifestyle shift she made during our time together.

Watch her share her story and experience here: https://youtu.be/JcBsTJqlrpw?si=tZKtWQXqPBicIp_g

She is so inspiring. I love this woman!

If you are a woman in midlife looking for some supportbuilding a healthier, more active lifestyle for the next chapter, I have three spots open for one-on-one coaching starting in September.

Shoot me a message, and we'll start right at the beginning with a no-pressure, free 15-minute chat to see what your biggest challenges are at the moment.

🚨ALSO: To my graduates of my health coaching program, keep your eyes out because I have something new just for graduates, also starting this fall. Shoot me a message, or keep eyes on your email as I will be in touch this week.👀👀👀

Smiling cuz I got my workout in today...how about you?

Not gonna lie, it's not always easy to get my workouts done....even when I enjoy them!

Even as a fitness professional!

There are many (MANY) mornings that I stomp my way down to the basement, begrudgingly starting my warmup.

Today I was lucky to have the accountability to show up for my coaching clients at our weekly live workout.

A standing workout appointment, with women I don't want to disappoint.

What kind of accountability do you lean on when you're not feeling motivated? A coach, a friend, a partner, a group?

Who's got tips for better sleep? What's the best thing that has worked for you?

I'm a big fan of long hold static stretching, or any kind of self-massage.

Here's one to give a try!

100% of women who live long enough will go through menopause...

So why does it feel like such a mystery?

I love learning and I can’t stop. Won't stop. 😄

But this is one area I've felt hesitant and intimidated around deepening my understanding.

I'm still a few years out from the transition myself, but perimenopause symptoms can start up to 10 years before… so I may not be as far off as I think.

More importantly, I coach, train, and do bodywork on women in midlife every single day. At some point, ignoring this topic for my clients just wasn't an option anymore.

So, as is my go-to, I decided to start reading. A few books, gaining different perspectives and best practices for actually thriving through this transition, not just surviving it.

My first read was "The Menopause Moment" by Dr. Kelly Casperson, MD and WOW: my eyes are already much more open and there’s no going back now!

A few things that really stuck with me that you might find helpful:

🟢Most people wildly underestimate what menopause actually is. It's more than just hot flashes or the end of monthly periods. The decade (ish) around menopause is wild hormone fluctuations, just like throughout puberty….followed by reaching menopause and living with hormone depletion for the rest of your life, plus the downstream effects that has on everything: sleep, weight, brain, mood, energy, fragility, etc.

🟢Women have to advocate hard for themselves. Exhaustion, night waking, brain fog, unexplained weight gain -- these are real symptoms, not something to just push through. I already see this with coaching clients, and it's validating and makes much more sense in the context of hormone fluctuations and deficiency.

🟢The fear around HRT (hormone replacement therapy) side effects is largely rooted in one flawed study from 2002. The overblown risk narrative has done a real disservice to women for over 20 years.

🟢HRT may have significant preventative health benefits. The research is more promising than most people realize, indicating higher quality of life AND a 30% overall decrease in mortality when started in the first 10 years of menopause.

I'm already onto my next read -- "Unbreakable" by Dr. Vonda Wright, which is much more focused on longevity and lifestyle. Very much in my lane already, and I’m excited for the valuable nuggets of wisdom I will gain from this one.

I'm sharing this journey as I go because I know a lot of you are navigating this in real time -- or will be soon. 💕

WHAT IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?

The super simple version that I gave my kids when they asked me about it went like this:

The lymphatic system is like sewage pipes throughout your body that pulls, filters and removes extra fluid from all over.

The important thing to remember about this system is that it doesn't have its own pump like that circulatory system, and it needs us to MOVE ( ) in order to function well, successfully maintaining a proper fluid balance in our tissues.

If you can move more, move more! If you can't, or you want extra support, consider booking a manual lymphatic drainage session.

If you get lower back pain or tightness, especially on one side, you 100% want to have a set of Yoga Tune Up Balls on hand to provide immediate relief...no drugs or medication necessary!

(Of course this info doesn't apply to all back pain at all times -- please defer to info from your medical team if you are uncertain about risks.)

Generally speaking, here's what you'll want to do:

🟢 Move slowly, pressing your body against the balls against the wall, and roll the balls around to find areas of tension or tenderness

🟢 Stay close to or right on the tender areas

🟢 Be cautious not to apply pressure too heavily or in areas that feel like sharp or nerve-y pain

🟢 Keep your breathing relaxed

🟢 Roll the balls around in short, repetitive strokes or “pin and stretch” by keeping the balls in one place and add movement from the body, such as moving your leg or shifting your hip up/down.

Do you love your Yoga Tune Up balls? I sure do!
