Google’s dictionary says judgement is the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions. I’ve been thinking a lot about judgement ever since I heard Luvvie Ajayi Jones talk about it on Glennon Doyle’s podcast. Judging has such a negative connotation these days, but the more I think about it, the more I think we should be judging MORE, not less.

We should be considering our own and other people’s behavior carefully and judging whether or not the things that are happening should be happening. How can I grow or discern or become if I am not judging whether certain actions are aligned or not? How can I hold others (and myself) accountable if I do not use my power to judge? Using our judgement is a sacred right. The Judgement card in tarot relates to a major uplevel in our spiritual journey. That resonates for me.

If you’re wondering, “Who am I to judge?” then I say that in most cases, the answer is simple. You are you — that’s who you are to judge. If something doesn’t sit right with you, trust that.

Please understand that what I’m talking about relates back to the definition I shared. Coming to “sensible conclusions” includes empathy and compassion in my book. Thoughts?

I’ve been quiet on here for a while, and that’s because I’ve been going through some major life shifts — good ones!

Rebuilding my life after what felt like losing everything during 2020 has not been a smooth process, but I am grateful for the upswing I’m experiencing now.

Some beautiful insight from my cousin, who is working on a worship album of original music.

a few days ago, I found myself struggling with perfectionism & imposter syndrome.

in the midst of voicing all the fears I had to God about the reception of 𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙇𝙊𝙉𝙂/𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙇𝙔, I came to the familiar fear:

“What if it’s not good enough?”

Maybe you’ve found yourself saying the same thing recently,
heart pounding,
throat tightening with the realization that the work of your hands doesn’t measure up.

In His gentle, yet powerful way,
He redirected my focus with a question of His own:

“Oh daughter, what if it’s NEEDED?”

And isn’t this the whole point?
The reason God asked us to pursue something in the first place?

Will there be those who don’t appreciate or value the work we’ve created?

Probably.

But what about the people who hang on every word/note?
Who need our story to make sense of theirs?

The beauty is not in the PERFECTION,
but in the PURPOSE.

Me and my person have faced a lot of waves separately. Now, we get to face them together.

We met at a time when both of us were committed to our own individual growth. He told me recently that right before we met, he had been Googling and researching “how to have a healthy relationship” and “how to communicate in a healthy way”. I had also spent years trying to understand relationship better, since I knew I didn’t have many examples of good ones.

Our desire to heal our own lives allowed us to be together without destroying ourselves and each other.

Now, it’s not just about facing the waves and bracing ourselves for the impact. We also ride them and play in them.

I don’t know about you, but I was trained from an early age to avoid discomfort at all costs. My family did a really good job of fighting about mundane s**t and a really bad job of addressing the real issues. Turns out, that type of behavior costs. A lot.
