UNION: It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Oletha "Bill" Hall, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, who left us peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 93. Oletha was born on August 10, 1932, in the quaint town of Union Mississippi, to her loving parents, Edward Olen Butts and Caddie Hudson Butts. Her services will be Thursday June 18 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to services at Milling Funeral of Union and Burial at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Chris Spence will officiate.
Oletha, affectionately known as Bill, was a woman of grace, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to those she held dear and by the love she shared with her late husband, Clell "Duck" Hall. Together, they built a life rich in love and happiness over 61 wonderful years of marriage, beginning on September 30, 1952, until Clell's passing.
Bill began her professional life in the sewing industry before embarking on a long and fulfilling career as a secretary with Lazyboy, where she worked for nearly five decades. She retired at the age of 74, ready to embrace new adventures and explore the world through travel. Her dedication and work ethic were an inspiration to all who knew her.
A deeply spiritual woman, Oletha was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newton for over 50 years. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she actively participated in the church community by teaching Sunday School, working in the library, and lending her voice to the choir. She cherished the friendships she formed with the ladies of her Sunday school class and found immense joy in being part of such a supportive and loving community.
Her love for beauty and style was evident not only in her fabulous outfits but also in the vibrant garden she lovingly tended. Oletha's yard was a testament to her passion for flowers, and she spent countless hours nurturing her plants, creating a sanctuary of color and fragrance. Additionally, her entrepreneurial spirit shone through her successful Avon business, where she built lasting relationships with her clients and shared her keen sense of beauty.
Oletha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clell "Duck" Hall; her parents, Edward Olen Butts and Caddie Hudson Butts; her brother, Oswald Butts; her sisters, Kathrine Gossett, Margie Christian, and Dot Hollingsworth; and a very special friend, Lawrence Taylor. She is survived by her cherished sister, Sue Fountain of Natchez, Mississippi; her devoted nieces, Martha Maddox, Jane Space, Diane Clemons and Beth Nichols her loving nephews, Jerald Butts, Freddy Alan Hollingsworth, Todd Fountain, and Brent Fountain; and a host of great-nieces and nephews who will continue to honor her legacy.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Memory Care at The Preserve for their outstanding care and compassion during Oletha's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Oletha's memory to Newton's Veterans Memorial Cemetery or the First Baptist Church of Newton, both of which held a special place in her heart.
Oletha's memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her beauty, both inside and out, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love for family and friends will continue to inspire us all. As we bid farewell, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones in eternal peace.
