Darlineka Joanus’ comeback story has been nothing short of inspiring. After sustaining a serious knee injury during hurdling practice at Farleigh Dickinson University (FDU), she faced a long and challenging road through surgery and rehabilitation.

When she first began physical therapy at our Elizabeth – Elmora Ave. center, simple tasks such as walking and navigating stairs were difficult, but with consistent determination, trust in the process and an unwavering commitment to her goals, her hard work has translated into great progress.

Today, she has returned to FDU’s women’s track and field team and is continuing her development as a Division I athlete while remaining dedicated to her ongoing care.

Consider this your reminder.

Heather Cardena knows firsthand that early detection can make a difference for breast cancer patients. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we join her in encouraging women not to delay their mammogram.

Thanks to her own mammogram and the support of her oncology team and ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation, Heather can focus on the moments that matter most.

Help spread the message by sharing this post with the women in your life.

Bryce Eaton, a basketball starter at Saint Peter's University, frequented our Fair Lawn center due to continual pain following knee surgery several months ago.

An assessment was performed, including strength testing with the VALD Dynamo and movement analysis using the VALD ForceDecks, to evaluate Bryce's squat and jump mechanics. The data showed his ongoing symptoms were primarily related to ankle mobility restrictions and quadriceps weakness and not his surgically repaired knee.

Through close coordination of care between the athletic trainer and physical therapist at Saint Peter's, an individualized treatment plan was developed and implemented as he worked primarily with Physical Therapists Bruce Faulkner and Morgan White. Treatment consisted of dry needling, blood flow restriction training and a targeted approach to address movement and strength deficits.

Bryce is getting better every day and is looking forward to the Peacocks' season, which begins in early November.

Four members of Kessler's ReVital Cancer Rehabiltation team, Mina D'Arrigo, Nikki Ranger, Helen Bussanich and Alina Hedaya, proudly participated in the Lewin Fund Walk & 5K for Women's Cancer in Paramus.

Kessler served as a community sponsor, hosted an educational table, led the event warm-up and connected with survivors, caregivers, health care professionals and community members throughout the day.

The event raises awareness and funds to support research and programs dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by women's cancers. We're honored to partner with organizations that share our commitment to health, wellness, survivorship and access to supportive cancer care.
