A descent is an experience of transformation.
Transformation can be scary because it often involves loss, disorientation, and the dismantling of familiar identities and ways of being; it can be brutal; and can feel like a death. And yet, transformation is also a profoundly creative act. Something new is trying to emerge. Something hidden seeks expression. Something essential is finding its way into life.
A descent is an invitation to pause and listen deeply to what is emerging and murmuring. Sometimes the calling to descend comes as a feeling, a symptom, a creative impulse, a dream, a memory, a sensation in the body, or having a hunch that something needs to change. And sometimes the calling comes with a question: what prevents me from being present and honest in a relationship?... why do I continue to procrastinate?... Why do I continue to seek external validation and approval instead of knowing my own worth?...
Unlike many mythic journeys, Inanna’s descent is voluntary. She chose it. No one demanded, coerced, or forced her to descend. One day, the Queen of Heaven and Earth chose to descend. Perhaps the life she had built no longer reflected who she truly was. Perhaps she sensed that something deeper was calling. She decided to listen to her intuition and went in pursuit of her true queenship.
Reimagining Inanna's Descent is an immersive online journey that combines mythology, expressive arts, somatic practices, writing, ritual, and community to explore themes of perfectionism, self-worth, identity, life transitions, creativity, grief, and becoming.
This is not a workshop about learning a myth. It is an opportunity to discover how the myth is already living within you and where you are inside the myth
If something in these words stirs recognition, I invite you to join us this fall.
Perhaps there is something you are ready to release.
Perhaps there is a deeper truth asking to be honored.
Perhaps there is a part of yourself waiting to be reclaimed.
The descent is not an ending. It is an initiation.
