Pregnancy math is weird and basically everyone gets it wrong.

Your provider counts from the first day of your last period, not from whenever you think it actually happened. So the number they hand you usually lands about two weeks bigger than the one you'd been quietly telling yourself, and finding that out mid-appointment is a bad time.

Us telling you our own process is easy? Sure. We would say that.

So instead: four patient reviews are now up on the site. Someone in Minnesota said the meds showed up in a few days and worked exactly like the directions said they would. Most medication abortion uses two meds — mifepristone, then misoprostol. When mifepristone isn't available, misoprostol on its own is a real option, not a backup plan.

Taken as a multi-dose protocol — the one the World Health Organization recommends — misoprostol alone can end an early pregnancy, and it's been used this way around the world for decades. Your clinician sends exact instructions: how many pills, each dose, the timing. Following them is what matters most.

It feels a lot like the combined regimen: cramping and bleeding as it works, sometimes nausea, chills, or a low fever that usually settles within a day. If it doesn't fully finish — rare — there are follow-up options, and your clinician is your point person throughout.

Can providers detect abortion pills? No.

There's no validated lab test for mifepristone or misoprostol. On ultrasound and blood work, medication abortion looks identical to miscarriage. Both medications clear your system within hours and don't appear on standard 5-, 10-, or 12-panel drug tests.

A few things to know:
• Symptoms are what you describe to providers — that's what guides care
• Pregnancy tests may stay positive for 2-4 weeks (normal, not a sign of failure)
• You decide what to share with your provider, always

What does an abortion pill package look like?
