At just 12 years old, Alexis went from playing soccer and competing in gymnastics to barely being able to get off the couch.
After tearing her meniscus in an accident last summer, so much of the life she knew suddenly stopped. She couldn’t play the sports she loved, participate in activities at school or even take the stairs. For a kid who just wanted to get back to being a kid, it was a lot to lose.
Then came physical therapy.
At our Washington Township clinic, Alexis found a team that gave her a path forward. With Brooke Cowling, PT, DPT, in her corner, she worked hard week after week to rebuild her strength, regain her mobility and fight her way back to the things that made her feel like herself again.
About four months later, Alexis was back to sports—and even made it back in time to compete at an important gymnastics competition in Miami. 🤸
But somewhere along the way, something else happened. The place Alexis came to because she had to became somewhere she genuinely looked forward to going. There were plenty of laughs, encouragement and, of course, her favorite: stool races against the staff. In Alexis's words, Brooke "made a huge difference in my life."
Alexis, watching you get back to soccer, gymnastics, school and simply being a 12-year-old again is exactly why we do what we do. We're incredibly proud of you and grateful we got to be part of your comeback. 💛
