I was swinging in the hammock with my two giggly boys the other day and paused to fully pull myself into the moment. The sunshine on my skin, the breeze, the sight of their big smiles. It was magic.
Declan began pretending there was a hungry bear 🐻 outside and we needed to hide, so I swung the sides of the hammock over our heads to protects us and my mama instincts kicked in... my heart started racing, I contemplated 100 different ways I could divert or scare or fight a bear. I think Declan could see the fear in my eyes because he looked at me with eyebrow raised and said, “Mama, it’s just pretend.” I snapped out of it. 😆
But it got me thinking. As a modern parent living in the suburbs the ways we need to protect our children are very different. We don’t have famine, lack of water, or predators to fight off.
But the threats to our children now a days are still very dangerous... and maybe even more so because most of them are invisible. (Hear me out, and I’m not talking that “invisible enemy” 😉)
We have genetically modified foods, pesticides, heavy metals, BPA, artificial colors/flavors/sweeteners, fluorinated+chlorinated water, cleaning chemicals, toxic fragrances, hormone + antibiotic pumped livestock, pollution in our air and now the unavoidable ✋🏼gee surrounding us at all times ... all effecting our babies’ quickly growing bodies and damaging them at a cellular level.
It’s a lot for a modern mama to think about!
There’s a ton of research that goes into learning how to avoid/protect our family from them, make healthy swaps and detox our bodies from the toxins. But we must because we are their protectors. Just as we would with a bear.
My passion in the health and wellness field that I’ve been a part of for almost 20yrs now has evolved from Fitness 👉🏼 Holistic Nutrition 👉🏼 now helping mamas like you avoid and remove toxins from your bodies and babies’ lives.
I want to help you cut through the noise, the green washing and the hours of researching to truly help educate and empower you to make the best decisions for your family.
