Casa Esperanza is a nonprofit transitional home breaking the cycle of homelessness through housing, education, & job training. OUR STORY
In early 2014, several Bakersfield women entertained the possibility of establishing a home for women transitioning from homelessness to economic stability and permanent housing. They did so recognizing that the population of homeless women and women with childr
en is a growing segment of our society. After several visits to Alexandria House, a very successful home in Los Angeles, efforts went forward to establish Casa Esperanza Transitional Home for Women modeled after Alexandria House.. Incorporated in December 2014, Casa Esperanza is a 501(c)3 tax exempt public benefit corporation. The defining modus operandi for Casa Esperanza, in every aspect of its operation, will be to honor the inherent dignity and personal worth of the home’s resident women and children. Recognizing that a positive self-image and sense of worth are operative factors toward one’s success in dealing with adversity, Casa, itself as a physical dwelling, will reflect the dignity of its residents. The program at Casa Esperanza is designed specifically to build in residents an awareness of their own abilities, and to acquire the relational and employment skills necessary for employment with a sustainable wage and accompanying benefits, all of which contributes highly to a healthy self-concept as a person of dignity and individual worth.
