Moms really are superheroes. 🥹✨💛

From the moment we get pregnant, we start sacrificing pieces of ourselves for our babies. Our bodies, our sleep, our time, our energy...SO much of who we are goes into caring for these little humans.

And it is the most beautiful, incredible thing. Truly.

BUT. Here’s what I want every mom to remember:

🤍You matter, too.🤍

You can love your children more than anything in the world AND still have needs of your own. You can be an amazing, devoted mother AND need rest, support, and time to yourself.

Motherhood requires sacrifice, absolutely. But it shouldn’t require completely losing yourself in the process.

And as a therapist, I cannot emphasize this enough: Taking care of your own physical and mental health isn’t selfish. It’s actually one of the BEST things you can do for your children.

So please, mama. Make sure you’re pouring some of that love and care back into yourself, too. You deserve it. 💫

What’s one thing you’ve done for YOURSELF lately? I’d love to hear. 🫶

Why is 4 months such a sweet spot for sleep training?! 👶🏼💤

I get asked this ALL. THE. TIME. And there are actually some really good reasons why I love starting around this age!

Around 4 months, your baby’s sleep is going through some BIG developmental changes. They’re beginning to develop self-soothing skills, their sleep patterns are maturing, and they still have that strong newborn sleep pressure working in their favor.

Basically, it’s a really great window of opportunity to help your baby learn independent sleep skills! 🙌🏼

BUT (and this is important!) that doesn’t mean you HAVE to sleep train at 4 months. Every baby is different, every family is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to baby sleep.

You can absolutely be responsive, nurture secure attachment, AND help your baby develop healthy sleep habits. These things are not mutually exclusive! 🩷

And did you know we have a totally FREE version of The Peaceful Sleeper app?! 🎉 That’s actually where this content came from!

We have SO many resources to help you understand your baby’s sleep and figure out what works best for YOUR family, without the pressure or overwhelm.

And tell me below: Did you start sleep training at 4 months, earlier, later, or not at all?! I’m curious!

If bedtime with your preschooler feels like a hostage negotiation every single night…this one’s for you. 🙋🏼‍♀️

One more hug. One more drink. One more book. One more VERY important question that apparently cannot wait until morning. Sound familiar?! 🙃

Here’s the thing: bedtime battles aren’t always about your child being defiant or pushing boundaries. Sometimes the schedule is off, expectations aren’t clear, or the bedtime routine is just dragging on WAY too long.

And while I’m all about connection and meeting our kids where they are, I’m also a BIG believer that boundaries and connection can absolutely coexist. 👏🏼

A solid preschool bedtime routine should be SHORT (think 20–30 minutes), predictable, and something you’re willing to stick to every single night.

Because your preschooler needs sleep. AND you deserve an evening that doesn’t revolve around negotiating with a tiny human until 9:30 p.m. 😅

Of course, we also have to look at the bigger picture. If your child is uncomfortable, sick, or their schedule isn’t working for them, no amount of routine tweaking is going to magically fix that.

It’s all about figuring out what YOUR child needs and building a routine that actually works for your family. 🤍

💤 Comment PRESCHOOLROUTINE and I’ll send you the full blog post to help you create a bedtime routine that’s peaceful, predictable, and (hopefully!) a whole lot less exhausting.

And tell me… what’s your preschooler’s FAVORITE bedtime stalling tactic?! 😂👇

Being a mother is the most beautiful role AND it is also one of the most exhausting. Both things can be true. 🤍 🤱🏼

The mental load. The emotional load. The physical load. The CONSTANT feeling that someone needs something from you. And even when you finally sit down at the end of the day, your brain is still running through tomorrow’s to-do list. 🙃

And here’s the thing...we don’t need someone to point out how tired we look. WE KNOW.

As a therapist, I cannot emphasize this enough: Moms need rest. Moms need support. And moms need to be allowed to have needs of their own.

You can love your babies more than anything in the entire world AND be completely overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood.

Rest is not something you have to earn. And taking care of yourself is not taking away from your family. In fact, it’s one of the best things you can do for them.

💫 What’s one thing you wish people understood about how exhausting motherhood can be? 💫

One of the biggest misconceptions about baby sleep is that the goal is to get your baby into a deep sleep and KEEP them there all night. 🙃

But here’s the thing…that’s not how sleep works!

We ALL cycle through different stages of sleep throughout the night. Deep sleep, lighter sleep, and everything in between. And that’s completely normal!

The difference is what happens when your baby transitions between those sleep cycles.

I love the swimming analogy because it makes this concept SO much easier to understand. If a child can swim to the bottom of the pool on their own, they can do it again and again. But if they need someone to push them down every single time, they’re going to keep needing that help.

And sleep works in a similar way!

Now, does this mean rocking, nursing, or helping your baby fall asleep is BAD? Absolutely not!! ❤️

But if your baby is waking up every 45 minutes and needing you to recreate the exact same conditions to fall back asleep, we can work on that!

Independent sleep is a SKILL. And just like any other skill, we can help our babies learn it in a way that works for THEIR temperament, needs, and your family’s goals.

Because sleep training isn’t about forcing your baby to sleep. It’s about giving them the tools to do something they’re capable of learning. 🧡

I will die on this hill: “Don’t go to bed angry” is some of the worst relationship advice we’ve been given 😂

Because sometimes staying up to “work it out” just means two exhausted, dysregulated people trying to solve a problem while their brains are basically on fire.

When your heart rate is up, you’re feeling defensive, and everything your partner says feels way more offensive than it normally would…that might not be the moment to push through until you reach a resolution.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can say is, “I love you. We’re okay. We’re going to figure this out. But we are NOT figuring it out tonight.”

Sleep. Regulate. Come back to the conversation when both of you actually have the capacity to hear each other.

Going to bed angry doesn’t mean ignoring the problem. It means knowing when the conversation has stopped being productive and trusting your relationship enough to put a pin in it until tomorrow.

So tell me: do you ever go to bed angry?? And if you don’t, why?

10/06/2026

Oof, I GET IT. 😅 When you are exhausted and your baby is waking all night, there is truly nothing more irritating than hearing someone say, “Oh my gosh, my baby sleeps 12 hours straight!” 🙃

But I also want us to be really careful about using our child’s sleep as some kind of parenting report card or bragging rights.

A baby who sleeps through the night doesn’t mean they have a “better” mom. And a baby who wakes all night doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.

Babies are different.
Temperaments are different.
Sleep needs are different. AND, if sleep isn’t working for your family, it is something we can address! 💛

You don’t have to just accept being exhausted and sleep deprived because “that’s motherhood.” There are ways to support your baby’s sleep while still supporting their needs, your attachment, and YOUR needs, too.

And maybe we can all agree to read the room before announcing that our baby has slept 12 hours since birth. 😂

One of the BEST things you can do before you start sleep training? Track what’s actually happening. 📓

Because when you’re in the middle of baby sleep, it can all start to blur together. Was that nap 30 minutes or 50? Did they wake at 4:45 yesterday too? Are we actually making progress or does it just feel like nothing is changing? 😅

A baby sleep log gives you DATA. And data helps us spot patterns that are really hard to see when you’re exhausted.

I recommend tracking for about a week before you start sleep training so you can get a good picture of your baby’s current rhythm. Then keep tracking as you go so you can see things like:

✨ how quickly protesting is decreasing
✨ when naps are starting to solidify
✨ where the hiccups tend to happen
✨ your baby’s predictable wake-up time
✨ what bedtime actually works best

The goal is not to obsess over every minute. It’s to give yourself information so you can make better decisions for YOUR baby instead of guessing.

Comment LOGBLOG and I’ll send you the full blog post + a free sleep log you can download and use. 🤍

Sleep is never just about sleep. 🤍

When your baby is sleeping well, it supports their physical development, emotional well-being, ability to learn, regulate, and grow. But it also impacts YOU.

Because parents deserve to feel rested, present, patient, and like themselves, too.

I think sometimes we’ve normalized parental exhaustion so much that we forget: chronic sleep deprivation doesn’t have to be the price of having a baby.

Supporting your baby’s sleep isn’t selfish. Wanting more sleep doesn’t mean you’re putting your needs above theirs. Quality sleep is something your whole family deserves.

And that’s really the heart behind everything I wrote in my book - helping you find an approach to sleep that supports your baby AND your family. 💛

Comment TPSBOOK and I’ll send you the link to order your copy!

Sleep deprivation is not just “being tired.” And I really, really wish we would stop treating it like it is.

When a family is chronically sleep deprived, it can impact mental health, relationships, emotional regulation, patience, functioning…everything.

For this family, they’re talking about depression and PTSD being rooted in the season where nobody was sleeping. And while every family’s story is different, this is exactly why I feel so strongly about taking sleep seriously.

You do not get a trophy for surviving on no sleep.

And wanting your baby to sleep better does NOT mean you’re selfish, disconnected, or putting your needs above theirs. Helping your baby sleep can be one of the most loving things you do for your entire family.

Sleep matters. Your baby’s sleep matters. And YOUR sleep matters, too. 💛
