One of the perks of seeing kids at a young age, is helping them effectively break habits like thumb sucking 👍

Our patient initially presented when she was 8 years old with classic signs of thumb sucking: anterior open bite and a narrow upper jaw.

She was treated with palatal expansion to help correct her upper jaw, while also helping to discourage her thumb sucking. After 7 months, her habit was kicked and her open bite closed by itself! We waited to place braces when most of her baby teeth were lost, and now she is 12 with an amazing and healthy smile 😁

Exciting day for Araya who got her braces on today! It was a real deja vu moment for her mom who was also treated by Dr. Honig. We loved seeing her rep the office swag too. It gets chilly in here with the AC cranked up in the summer so we like to stay prepared! 😎

Celebrating Smiles at 7 Day for July 7th! ✨

The American Association of Orthodontists (.info ) recommends that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. It may sound young, but 7 is actually the perfect age for us to catch potential dental issues early, as your child's smile continues to develop.

Some of these issues include:

🦷Crossbites
🦷Missing or extra teeth
🦷Severe crowding
🦷Impacted teeth

One of our own patients, shown above, came in at age 7 with all four of these issues! Fortunately, we were able to create a plan to guide their smile in the right direction from the start.

In many cases, treatment may not be needed at this age, but an early evaluation allows us to monitor your child's critical transition from baby teeth to adult teeth, so we can step in at exactly the right time if needed!
