TAXING. CONVOLUTED.
What’s more complicated than the US income tax system? The US is among the world’s leaders in messy tax law and because of that many of us use an accountant to avoid issues. Our club relies on CPA Jeffrey Kurtz
(813) 708-6438. Today Jeff dropped by to share with us the latest in tax law changes, because GOD KNOWS the laws are
always changing. It’s a moving target.
Thanks Jeff for helping Rotary and the rest of your fortunate customers.

DOING GOOD in the WORLD, the Mary and Martha House in Ruskin provides safe housing and other assistance to women and children fleeing a dangerous home setting. Because of this critical work, our local Rotary Foundation presented a gift today to Mary and Martha House Executive Director Bill Chini — $2500! Rotary also believes in protecting and advocating for women and children. Money well spent here in

All over the world, Rotary fights disease. So when a Moffitt Cancer Center rep drops in to share about what they do, we are
more than ready to hear it.
How critical are mammograms and lung cancer screenings?
Jeannette Palencia, Moffitt Senior Community Outreach Worker, says you CANNOT overstate the importance of regular screenings and scans. And Moffitt helps with costs when necessary. This is one of the reasons why Newsweek Magazine ranked Moffitt the #1 Cancer hospital in America. The mission is clear. Defeat cancer. And EARLY Detection makes all the difference. Much thanks to Jeannette for the presentation. And timely. Moffitt celebrates its 40th anniversary in three months. We are all proud to have this internationally ranked cancer hospital in our community.

In one of the most attention getting promises we’ve ever heard, District Governor Linda Johnson says if our district raises more
money to fight polio this fiscal year than has ever been raised before, she will skydive! Last year was our biggest year, $152,629 so that’s the target. Gotta give the DG credit because when we reach it that’ll be a PR splash. Let’s get behind Linda and save a life.

You can be driving as slow as only 9 mph and, if there’s an accident, you can still receive a traumatic brain injury.
Any bump, jolt or fall can cause a “TBI.”
It’s so important that you get medical attention immediately.
Doctors usually check to see if your vision is affected, because that’s an important indicator. Loss of consciousness, coma, amnesia — all indicators. And so many of these injuries results in a lawsuit.
Many TBIs result from the cliche “slip and fall” incident — and they’re life changing and deadly serious
This area of study is the specialty of our new Club President Connie Huber, from Ethos Health Group. She stepped up today to share about what she does for a living. All Rotarians have a story, and so do you! Join us here in so we can hear yours!

Congrats to Connie Huber, our Rotarian of the Year and to Michele Maynard, our Rising Star!
Much deserved. Connie is our new President, sworn in by PDG Deborah Williams, and Michele, from Bank OZK, helps with speakers and is also our treasurer. It takes all of us to make it happen, to make our community a better place in every way we can.

Pete Snow is known throughout south county for performing in cozy cafes and restaurants and tonight, at our annual installation banquet. Connie Huber is our new president and we are certainly in good hands!

Changing of the guard! Annually on July 1 new leadership takes over every club’s presidency all over the globe. That includes the president of Rotary International.
Tonight Connie Huber stepped up for us( how fortunate our club is. Master of Ceremonies was Ernest Hooper from
United Way Suncoast, and swearing in the new team of leaders was Past District Governor Deborah Williams. A hearty time of fellowship but with meaning as Rotary never stops looking for new ideas and fresh approaches to its one main goal: Making the world a better place.

In relationships that take a dark turn, sometimes it’s the mother and children left with nothing. Mary and Martha House offers sanctuary to victims of domestic violence or homelessness. Rotary has seven areas of focus and one of them is supporting mothers and children, so our goals line up beautifully with this critically important charity in Ruskin. Executive Director Bill Chini dropped in today to update us on how M&M house is doing. It was started in ‘82 by two nuns and another woman, and since then has taken care of countless moms and kids in need.
“Too many people are navigating trauma, fear and major life decisions without ever being taught the tools to survive them,” he said. This is a difficult subject to consider, much less talk openly about. These are people who care deeply about the women and kids they serve. A moving presentation.

Who doesn’t have excess junk and clutter in their home? Do you need the “JUNK KING?”
Our speaker today is a trash hauler!
Christine Roselli is originally from New Jersey, is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, served for 11 years, including 9 years at sea, and is a now member of the Coast Guard Reserves.
So why is she here talking about junk?
Well, actually she does deal in junk - but also told great stories about her time in the Coast Guard. She considers the CG to be the most cost effective branch of the service. And the oldest, which started in 1790.
She’s gone from being Captain of a CG Cutter to managing trucks carrying trash and junk. Lively, humorous, informative, respectful, humble, talented. Another fun speaker in !
