Jeff often talked about the part of your brain that sends worried messages when a run gets hard: "slow down," "stop," "you can't do this." He taught that you can talk back, with a mantra, a plan, or simply reaching the next walk break.

What's the go-to phrase you use when your brain starts negotiating?

In 1974, the Run Walk Run method was developed as a way to introduce running to a new audience. This training method allowed athletes to successfully train without injury. Since then, over a million runners have used this proven method. The Jeff Galloway app has plans for every fitness level and will make training more fun.

Chicago, here we come!

This Sunday, more than 55,000 runners will line up in Grant Park for the Chicago Marathon. Some are chasing a PR. Some are running their very first 26.2. Every one of them put in months of early mornings and long runs to earn that start line.

If you’re one of them, here’s the advice Jeff gave thousands of marathoners over the years:

✅ Start slower than you think you should. The first few miles will feel easy. That’s the point.

✅ Take your walk breaks from the very first mile, not when you get tired. Early breaks are what give you a strong finish.

✅ Nothing new on race day. Same shoes, same fuel, same breakfast you trained with.

✅ Smile at mile 20. You’ve already done the hard part, and the last 10K belongs to you.

Every mile you cover is a victory, and the finish line is waiting for you.

👇 Now we want to hear from you! Are you running Chicago this weekend? Or do you know someone who is? Drop their name in the comments and tag them so our Galloway community can send them some encouragement before Sunday. 💙

Early in his career, Jeff beat himself up over every missed workout and slow mile. Then he shifted his focus from perfection to progress, and everything changed.

"You don't have to run perfectly to find success. Every step taken with intention is a victory — no matter the pace." — Jeff Galloway

He suggested asking yourself two questions after every run: What did I do well today? What did I learn?

Try it today and tell us your answers in the comments.
