Oso Musical We provide music classes to students with special needs on Monday evenings at Baylor University Oso Musical is a music class for children with special needs.

With direction from Dr. Kelly Hollingsworth (Assistant Professor of Music Education), the class meets Monday nights on Baylor's campus with assistant from Baylor student leaders. Research has shown that children of all ability levels benefit from making music. Being immersed in a music enrichment class is a joyful and transformational experience, especially for children with special needs. Our music classes are not music therapy services; instead, we provide a music education based on the Orff Schulwerk philosophy. Orff Schulwerk is a way to teach and learn music. It is based on things children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance, and keep a beat on anything near at hand. Orff Schulwerk is designed for all children. There is a place for every child, and each contributes according to ability and talents. With Orff Schulwerk, every child is successful and feels safe to explore their innate musical ability. Orff Schulwerk uses traditional or original poems, rhymes, games, songs, and dances as basic musical building blocks. Spoken or sung, they are then accompanied by clapping and stamping or instruments such as drums, sticks, and bells. Send us a message if you are interested in registering your child for our classes!
