Peak Health Alliance

Peak Health Alliance We're leveraging the purchasing power of communities in Colorado to lower the cost of health care. We are a nonprofit health insurance purchasing alliance.

Peak Health Alliance is your local source for community care and comprehensive coverage. Our mission is to provide access to comprehensive and affordable health insurance for individuals, families, and employers in rural Colorado. We are proud that thousands of Coloradans save money on health insurance as a result of our work. We are led by our communities. Our role is community advocacy—on behalf

of individuals like you—with healthcare providers, physicians, healthcare facilities, the state of Colorado, and insurance companies. We use the purchasing power of the communities we represent to negotiate lower health insurance premiums. We offer health insurance plans through an insurance carrier selected based on their ability to offer the most competitive rates and comprehensive plans. While our ability to operate and offer plans is granted under Colorado law and enforced by the Division of Insurance, we are not a state agency. The key to our success is a collaborative approach that includes local leaders and providers in developing innovative healthcare solutions. Your membership supports our work. Consider Elevate Health Plans this open enrollment season, negotiated for the Western Slope by Peak Health Alliance, to be a part of the solution.

Running a small business in the high country comes with enough to juggle. Health benefits shouldn't be another mystery. That's why we're sharing a new guide on Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs): a flexible way for employers of any size to reimburse employees tax-free for the individual health plan that fits their life, instead of locking everyone into one group plan.

If you're a small business owner exploring your options, or just curious how ICHRAs compare to traditional coverage, we've put together a full breakdown plus a free downloadable checklist to help you think it through.

👀 August is Children's Eye Health Month! Regular eye exams help catch vision issues early—which matters for learning, safety, and development.

Good news: with Elevate Health Plans, kids don't need a referral to see an eye care provider. Your child's primary care doctor, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), or School-Based Health Center (SBHC) are great places to start, and you can go straight to an eye specialist when needed.

In-network optical providers include:
🔹 Durango area: Four Corners Eye Clinic, SW Eye Consultants, 4 Corners Children's Clinic
🔹 Summit County: Colorado Retina Associates, Summit Vision Source
🔹 Front Range: Colorado Retina Associates, CommonSpirit Health - Mountain, Denver Health, Children’s Hospital Colorado

Hear the Peak Health Alliance origin story straight from one of our founding members, Claire Brockbank. 🎙️

Summit County once had the highest health insurance rates in the nation, higher than our elevation. Rather than accept that, a group of local leaders came together to build something new: a coalition with enough collective power to negotiate directly with hospitals and insurance providers, drive down costs, and reinvest those savings into community mental health care.

It worked because it was built by and for the community it serves. It kept power in the hands of the people and protected the independent provider network that makes rural health care possible.

In this conversation, Claire shares how the lessons learned building Peak are now shaping her work forging hospital relationships and fighting for fair rates for union members in NYC. Proof that local, grassroots solutions can sew change well beyond where they started.

Grant applications through HCPF (Health Care Policy and Financing) are now open. These federal funds help support the providers who keep our communities healthy, from local clinics to rural hospitals. 💪

This funding, part of the new federal Rural Health Transformation Program, is available to providers across our entire Peak Health Alliance network (along with all 52 of Colorado's rural and frontier counties).

📅 Applications are due at 11:59 p.m. on August 3, 2026.

We are grateful for the providers who show up for our neighbors every day and hopeful this funding helps them keep doing it for years to come.

Perimenopause is one of the most significant neurobiological events the human body goes through, and one of the least talked about.

During and after perimenopause, women's hormone levels can drop to a fraction of what they were before adolescence. It's a major physical shift, and until recently, it's one most women navigated with very little support or information.

Generation X is breaking that pattern and bringing discussions of perimenopause, along with pregnancy-related and adolescent health, out into the open.

Comprehensive women's health care matters at every stage of life. Health insurance plays a vital role in supporting the full arc of a woman's health, not just the parts that have historically gotten attention. That means access to providers who understand this stage, coverage that doesn't treat it as an afterthought, and information that helps women know what's happening in their own bodies.

If you're navigating perimenopause, know this: it's not something to push through quietly. It's a real, significant transition, and your care should reflect that.

Peak isn't just working for Colorado's mountain communities. We know these communities because they are our communities.

This 4th of July, our team celebrated just like so many of you. Rich traded his usual meetings for a griddle, flipping pancakes at the Winter Park Lions Club's all-you-can-eat breakfast to raise money for local charities. 🥞

Meanwhile, Jen was at Destination Granby's Party in the Park with something for everyone, from a cheery beer garden to tons of family-friendly and sober activities. 🇺🇸

Home-town traditions, home-town team. We're grateful to be part of them.

Peak Health Alliance attended the National Alliance Women's Health Convening on June 10, and we came home with a lot to think about. 💙

Peak Health Alliance attended the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions Strategic Leadership Summit this month, connecting with purchasing coalitions from across the country to share emerging best practices, advance advocacy efforts, and strategize on systems-level change.

Every conversation at this summit brings us closer to a health care system that works better for our members and communities back home in Colorado.

Because the work doesn't stop at our borders. It takes a national effort to drive real, lasting change.
