No Brother or Sister left behind
This world has been in a crazy place lately. I find myself running into situations where it seems that people are just forgetting what this country stands for. One of the things that if you look at what us vets swore to, we would NEVER leave a brother or sister behind.
As of lately, I have seen a few instances where this has been the case. We can’t all do this ourselves. When we all joined they sometimes pounded it into our heads that we are a team and we don’t leave anyone behind. An instant I recall from basic. We were running for PT and we had a guy that just was not doing well. We took turns in teh flight and moved in and helped our fellow Airman make that run. Our flight made our time quite easily and we did it a a flight. Not just 50 airmen.
It is time we ALL start walking the walk. Now things are different, we are not in, but that philosophy needs to still be there. If you are having a rough time getting through something and need someone, we all have phones and other ways to reach out. Maybe think of this and reach out. Even if it is just to talk.
I recall a few years back I was having some rough times. One of my closest brothers and he knows who he is, happen to be here. We sat out back and just talked. I think for a couple hours and I realized how much just having someone that understood. We never served together, but we took that same oath. Right then I knew I was not left behind.
So what if our mission has changed. That makes not one bit of difference. We need to make sure we are all there for each other.
That doesn’t mean we won’t disagree or even argue at times. But when the rubber hits the road we need to have each other’s 6.
Sitting alone and drowning ourselves in whatever vice we use to escape isn’t the way we were trained. They say pull yourself up by your bootstraps. I say if those bootstraps are getting a too hard to pull by ourselves, there is ALWAYS someone of us that will be there to help.
Now that I have ranted on let's not just talk the talk, let’s walk the walk
