Word of the day: "Orographic"

Anchorage receives significant rainfall during the summer due to orographic lift (mountains forcing moist air upward) and its geography. Warm, moist air blowing off the Gulf of Alaska and Cook Inlet is forced upward by the Chugach Mountains, causing the air to cool, condense, and fall as rain on all our heads.

Partly cloudy skies might be filling the forecast for a few weeks, but it will be nice enough to spend at least some time outside, in between raindrops. Stop by some weekend morning at 10 am for great coffee, wonderful conversation, and relaxing patio time - weather permitting, of course!
