Here is a new email scam I received. It might not be new to others, but it was new to me today.
I got an email with the following . . .
"Hello,
I’m interested in scheduling a consultation and would appreciate the opportunity to learn about your availability and the next steps.
If you have a moment, I would be very grateful for a reply at your earliest convenience, as I’m hoping to begin the process soon.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards"
I wrote back explaining how we could set something up.
I got the following response back . . .
"Hello !
Thank you for getting back to me, I'm currently on vacation in Iceland and am relying on a WiFi connection, which makes regular phone calls difficult.
would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about therapy like i said earlier If possible, Il'd love to connect through a brief Zoom session. Please let me know a time that works best for you.
Warm regards"
In my prior email I gave the person times, etc. But I wrote back again giving some times and asking them to let me know what times work for them.
I received the following email back . . .
"Hello,
All of that I know and I understand that’s for the clarity and yes the earliest time Would work best for me even for today and also I’ve my zoom links ready and here you go
**** https:// this was a zoom link but I don't want to add it for others to click on ****
Thanks and God bless"
I did not click on the link.
I wrote the following email back . . .
"Unfortunately, I cannot click your Zoom link. I must be careful of malware and scammers to protect myself and my other clients' private information. We first need to schedule a time. I will also need your email and phone number so I can set you up with a link."
I received back the following . . .
"Hello,
You don’t want to click on mine but having me to click on yours,I’m thinking you’re professional on this and trust works both ways as I can even provide you my id before you click on my zoom meeting link so you know I’m clear and honest I I’m with you
Best"
After that I marked the email sender as phishing and spam, created this post and deleted the emails. Just want to keep us all informed of scammers.
Don't click someone else's zoom link unless you are completely sure who the sender is.
