I am excited to welcome Matthew O’Boyle (he/him), who will be stepping into a new role at The Lotus Center for Wellness and Healing as the Mental Health Advocacy and Wellness Intern! 🪷 Over the next year and a half, Matthew will be offering mental health psychoeducation, developing resources, and providing mutual aid support that will help to close the gap for mental health access to communities who have historically faced oppression, are underserved, and have not had access to mental health resources and knowledge. 🧠

And with that, Collin has wrapped up his role as the Administrative and Marketing Intern for The Lotus Center for Wellness and Healing. Since starting in May, Collin played a pivotal role in elevating the social media presence of the practice. His main projects this summer included creating and organizing the content for the the Juneteenth Week, gathering video footage for social media content, and producing and editing mental health videos that I was able to make available to an underserved community. Accessibility is an important part of my practice, and I know that I cannot do this work on my own. Thank you, Collin, for sharing your expertise and skills to increase mental health support and access! And good luck in your final year of college! 😃🪷

Pride Month 2026 is coming to a close, but the celebration and advocacy doesn’t end. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ To the LGBTQIA+ community, the work I do as a therapist is for YOU and the scared gay child/teen (me 🙋🏾‍♂️) who didn’t have the support and representation when he was figuring out what these feelings and attractions meant for him and that none of these feelings were bad. Together, we will spark change. We have ALWAYS been here and will CONTINUE to exist in this world. Events like Delco Pride is proof! 🌈💚🪷

On June 20, 2026, I was invited to speak and serve as a presence for mental health support for the production of “The Story of Derrick Wallace” by Childhoodslost Theatre Group. 🎭 The play tells the story of Derrick Wallace, a young Black 17-year old teen, who has to navigate trauma, issues surrounding identity, and surviving the hardships that have plagued him since his youth. This was the second time I was invited by Childhoodslost (first time for “Where Broken Boys Go”), and I am so grateful for the opportunity to bring awareness to the importance of mental health therapy and the impact of intergenerational trauma, especially among the Black community. Childhoodslost has been telling stories for 15 years that shines a light on issues of mental health, abuse, intergenerational trauma, and many other important topics. I encourage you to take the time to support and show love for their incredible work, as you can provide an experience for a youth or teen in the arts that can be healing. ❤️
